VALENTINE DANCE On February 18, 1946, the F. H. A. Club ol Washburn High School held a Valen- tine Dance in the school gym. Freddie Hess and his orchestra provided the music lor the gala occasion. The girls had very beautilully decorated the gym and stage. Red and white stream- ers lormed a ceiling over the dancers and a large heart and red cupids were the central attraction on the stage. Cupids pinned on these streamers added to the sentiment ol the occasion. Red and white streamers outlined a huge heart through which the royal arty made their entrance. White streamers with red hearts formed an aisle down which tae lcing ancl queen, John Hawlc and Esther Losher, with their attendants-John Herington, Betty Williams, Walter Fitschen, and Amanda Knoblauch-proceded. Diclr Pacey and Lynn Tweddale were crown bearers and Beth Ann Jury. president ol the club, crowned the ro al air. -. Y AFlter the crowning ceremony a waltz contest was held in which Mr. and Mrs. Fred Eihausen were chosen as the winning pair. During the course of the evening chances were sold on a two pound box ol candy. Robert lngold held the luclry number.
