The members of the class bought over S300 worth of war stamps and bonds during the school season. The outstanding event of the year was the Charade party held at the Lesch home. Miss Eileen Lynott and Miss Lora Miller were the class advisers. Betty Williams was the Presi- dent, Mary Laible the Vice-President, and Beth Ann Jury the Secretary-Treasure: The Sophomore year was begun with onl twenty-nine members. With an eye to the Banquet the next year, the class feverishly sold pop at the games and at the noon hour. Their food stand at the County Track Meet was a decided success. This year the class sold war stamps and bonds to the entire student body. Robert lngold served as President, Mary Laible as Vice-President and David Razo as Secretary-Treasurer. Miss Miller again was the class adviser. The Junior year was packed full of activities for the class of '46, With Coach Eihausen as class adviser and chief hamburger frier, the Fall Festival stand cleared almost S100. The class play, The Mad Hatters, succeeded in keeping the audience in stitches the whole evening. ln the spring, the Junior- Senior Banquet and Ball climaxed a successful season. President David Razo, Vice-President Beth Jury, and Secretary-Treasurer Betty Williams, guided the class through their social functions and business matters. The season of '45-'46 was begun with only twenty-three members. David and Richard Razo, Mary Laible, and Ruth Winkler were no longer with us. Beth Ann Jury served as President, John Hawk as Vice-President, and Amanda Knoblauch as Secretary-Treasurer. Mrs. Helen Wagner was chosen as class adviser. Aunt Cathie's Cat under the able direction of Miss Alice Morrison, was presented to a capacity audience in the late fall. During their entire high school career, the members of the class of '46 built up a reputation for being a very cooperative class. The members have taken part in the different school activities, includ- ing material and athletic contests. BETH ANN JURy 1946 D A. R Citizen- MARILYN MYERS and KATHLEEN WAL ship Award winner. VALENTINE DANCE On February 18, 1946, the F. H. A. Club ol Washburn High School held a Valen- tine Dance in the school gym. Freddie Hess and his orchestra provided the music lor the gala occasion. The girls had very beautilully decorated the gym and stage. Red and white stream- ers lormed a ceiling over the dancers and a large heart and red cupids were the central attraction on the stage. Cupids pinned on these streamers added to the sentiment ol the occasion. Red and white streamers outlined a huge heart through which the royal arty made their entrance. White streamers with red hearts formed an aisle down which tae lcing ancl queen, John Hawlc and Esther Losher, with their attendants-John Herington, Betty Williams, Walter Fitschen, and Amanda Knoblauch-proceded. Diclr Pacey and Lynn Tweddale were crown bearers and Beth Ann Jury. president ol the club, crowned the ro al air. -.
