This freedom is balanced with responsibility assumed by almost all students as they meet, mingle, and move purposely from class to class. When that responsibility slides, the authority of rules, adminis- tered by those who share the human condition, must and does restore order out of threatened chaos, rr1an's persistent enemy, It is these experiences represented by the buying of supplies at the bookstore and obeying the directions to move on to class that help students grow from day to day, 4

When class election day comes, electioneering students discover they have to be elected. Mitchell Chaney frightj, Student Council president, checks the student registration list.
