We were seventy-six in number-all ready for hard work and good times. We organized our class and set forth on our exciting journey. As fourth class Rangers we had a great deal to be proud of. Four of our members won varsity football uniforms, while several boys contributed to the success of the J. V. basketball team. Four of our lassies represented us on the newly formed hockey team and five on the J. V. basketball team. One of our number captured second place in the Public Speaking Contest. All told, we were proud of ourselves as fourth class Rangers and felt we had earned the honor of being third class Rangers next year. Before any of us realized it we were on the next lap of our journey. The Magazine Campaign was a huge success and we were happy to say we had done our share. More new territory was conquered by the Rangers. Three were varsity football starsg four were faithful members of the newspaper staffg three were members of the patrol and still others were sopranos, altos, tenors, and basses in the Mixed Chorus. One of the most unique programs of the year was our project, The Swiss Family Fraunfelderf' a group of yodelers who performed in native costume and sang in four languages. just as the pioneers pushed steadily forward to unexplored regions so this band of Rangers pushed on- ward into the events of a new year. Our courses became more specialized and responsibilities mounted. As second class Rangers we sponsored The Deep River Singers and presented Raggedy Nan our own production. In true Ranger fashion everyone co-operated to make both projects highly successful. We were pleased to find that one of our Rangers captured second place in the Public Speaking Contest. Many of us were in Glee Club, Band and Orchestra, while some peppy Rangerettes became Cheerleaders. Taking everything in our stride, we sought and received honors in the realm of athletics. One of our number became co-captain of the football team and was the highest individual scorer in the Lower Susque- hanna Conference. He was ably supported by nine classmates. Three of our boys and three of our girls were the mainstays of the varsity basketball teamg later in the year six boys were found on the baseball line-up. During this lap of the journey we had tried to follow in the footsteps of older and wiser Rangers. Now as full-Hedged Rangers we entered the lax year anticipating new worlds to conquer. Who of us would have thought time would pass so quickly? Many changes have taken place. New people have comeg old friends have gone. Early in December we presented our last project, Pickles Becomes A Lady, and it was received most favorably. As the Rangers of old vanquished the Indians so did certain of our Basketeers and grid fighters who helped to put our rivals, the Indians on the losing end of the score. Still holding aloft the ideals of the original Paxton Militiamen, five of our boys have gone to join the Rangers of Uncle Sam. Although we shall not be able to travel together as a group, each individual will carry with him the true spirit of the Rangers. And now the journey is drawing to a close. VVe, remembering the fun we have had, the friends we have made, and the work we have done, are ready to go forward to meet the tasks on new frontiers. With gratitude and affection we shall always cherish our Alma Mater-the home of the Paxton Rangers. LIDA ANNE SVVOPE, H ittorian. 66 '...1m.- Wm.. 1'-p A 'p. M -...,,,4- it 1 ' x 1 f W? I A . qu.
