HISTORY OF THE CLASS OF 1987 The day IS fast approachlng when we will no longer be students at Lower Paxton We are looklng forward to that day with mingled feellngs of longing and regret The history of our class durlng its stay 1n the halls of Lower Paxton has been neither outstanding nor spectacular to the casual observer but It IS to us a remmder of amusing incidents enjoyable occasions and the trials and trlbulatlons that were necessary to attam our goal On the memorable occasion of our entrance 1nto hlgh school there were fifty two members in the class That event as made even more d1St1DCtlV6 by the fact that we were the first class that did not have to take the High School Entrance Exam1nat10n The school had been organlzed as a J umor Senior Hlgh School Freshmen are at their best very strange creatures and we were no exceptlon The upperclassmen lntrlgued us with thelr superior bearing Nevertheless we were 1nord1nately proud of our posltlon and rank as freshmen Our first attempt at merrymaklng was a Hallowe en party of WhlCh the best feature was the unusually palatable refreshments The event that was undoubtedly the highspot of our freshman year was the Moonlight Hike to Rlchard Bells meadow where we had a wemer roast Mr Cobb and Mlss Rohrer our class advlsors were our chaperons one step higher to the rank of sophomores with forty members Agaln we had a Hallowe en party It was during that year that we gave the first of our celebrated Chlcken a La Kmg suppers Mr Glvler and Mlss Mar Jorie Phllllps sophomore class advisors were very helpful m this our first buslness venture Several amusmg thlngs happened in our sophomore year the first bemg the selectlon of our class motto Grln and Bear It The second was our p1cn1c on the last day of school After much thought and discussion we decided to go to a park along the r1ver Several days passed before some of the class voiced the Op1IllOIl that that park was not sultable We then changed our plans and decided to make arrangements to go to W11low M1llS Since we were not p6I'II'l1tt8d the use of the school bus we recrulted cars to take us there When the day of the p1cn1c arrlved we learned that the seniors and Juniors were going to Hershey Park 1n the school bus and various sophomores declared thelr intention of golng with them The rest of the class would not surrender their plans for going to Willow MlllS the outcome of this predicament was that half of the sopho mores went to Willow Mllls and the deserters went wlth the Juniors and semors to Hershey 19 . . y . 7 ! .
