FESMIRE Treasurer Member QF SE IDR CLASS It all began ,way back in '639i' when pupils from Siles, Feasterville, and Lower lVl0reland got together to form the class of N437 As freshmen, our first activity was a Halloween Party. One activity led to another until the great day when we were graduated into the Senior High School. From then on, days just seemed to slip by. As sophomores we entered many activities and also proved our skill. Our debating team was the winner that year and we also won honors in the May Day activities. Furthermore, a few members showed talent in the operetta. As juniors, we found our class roll increasing. When our Rockledge classmates joined us, we became one big happy family. Our class was very proud of having in it the entire girls varsity basketball team. At this time the war was getting under way but we didnit feel the worst effects of it until our senior year. Then there was a general cur- tailing of all extra-curricular activities and several of our classmates heeded our nation's call. Our class decreased gradually but we managed to save a few of the boys. Too soon the clay arrived when we acquired that well-known, hard-earned treasurefour diploma. There are Russell Barrett as a Major, David Sanford as a Lieutenant Colonel, and Bill Glenn as lst Lieutenant. We are honored to have with us the most famous singer on Broadway, Dorothy Troester. She has Bob Chapman af. her singing partner, and they are sure of success. Well! Here is our only WAVE. Fnsign Elsie Foxall. Our glamorous Jody Montrella is now ,lack Powers' S'Top-notch lrodel. Ginny Price is traveling from camp to camp with her cadet husband. Hmm! It seems as if our talented members are very successful. Babs Fellenz is a commercial artist, ,lane Schutz is at Penn State taking an art course, Phebe Auckland is at the head of a journalist department with Hulda Borzillo as the star reporter, and Frank Keller is a vital asset to Uncle Sam as a chemist, and at the present time he is working on a powerful explosive to blow up Hitler! ,lack Berkley's drafting is helping the camps to become better. Samuel Grieves has done very well in the Navy. Marian Buchler and Claire Dixon are bravely awaiting the return of their gobs from the Navy. Jean Fesmire, Millie Bachanowsky, Doris Worthington, and Anna Bohle, are also anxiously waiting for their doughboy husbands to come home, and Bobbie Frye for her General. Shirley Peterson has accomplished a lot for Women Suffrage and she is bound to be our next president, but her heart lies in the Navy with her gob of love. It seems as if time repeats itself, but now on a greater scale. The president of this class, Horace Lodge, is now the President of the United States, and he is happily married with a home, wife, and children. These were always his ideas of success! Warren Fesmire is a successful electrical engineer. Bea Wynkoop is a private secretary of the First National Bank, and .lo Senner is President Lodge's private secretary. Marcy Campoli is on final assembly in a defense plant. Pauline Kalanty has finally settled down with one of her ,loe's. Ed Swanson and Bucky Wolfirlger are with the Marines. Alvin Merrick is now running an Improvement School, whose main topic is 6'How to Overcome Bashfulnessf' Hazel Barrett and Maggie Johnson are leading a very leisurely life. Forrest Henry is a basketball coach. Anna Notheis and Ruth Draving are doing general office work. Al Ofterdinger is a professional basketball star. .lohn Freidel is a lifeguard at Cheltenham swimming pool. Donald Roberts has established a Lonely Heart's Bureau. There was no operetta because of re- strictions imposed by wartime regulations. The members of the club, augmented by other stu- dents of the school, participated in several holi- day programs. For the musical part of our Easter program this group sang excerpts from The Crucifixion by Stainer. if-XNEING EL B The Dancing Club, under the direction of Mrs. Leslie and Miss Crowe, has once again proven to be the most popular club in school. Each Fri- day morning the members enjoy an hour of Njitterbuggingv and straight dancing. Special credit this year goes to the younger members of the club, the seventh and eighth graders, who have made successful efforts to participate in the club activity. EUUHI G EL B We have enjoyed a few lessons in cooking, especially when it came time to test the proof of the pudding, we were all there with our knives, forks and spoons. You will not see our heels and toes any more, for we have learned to fill in the holes with thread by doing our own darning. Next year, it is hoped that we can continue in our sewing and culinary arts. Due to transportation restrictions, the club members could not visit the Franklin Institute as in the past. Before the year closes, they also in- tend to make photographic prints. AHEHEHY This is a new addition to our clubs and it has proven successful. With our neighbor- ing schools as opponents, however. a worthwhile football schedule operated to increase the skill and experience of our players and to maintain a keen interest among the members of the school. Although our defeats out-numbered our vic- tories, the close scores on almost every occasion indicate the well-trained, hard-fighting group we had representing Lower Moreland. We feel the players made a fine showing and we look forward to the 194-3 season as an even better one. HUEHEY The effects of World War ll extended even to the hockey field in the 194-2 season. Because of the gasoline and tire rationing, there was no regular league schedule. Although these restric- tiors affected the quantity of games, it did not affect the quality of those played. In a practice game with Jenkintown the L. M. girls were de- feated 3-0. After being rained out at North Wales, L. M. defeated them in a return game by the close score of 1-0. Josephine Senner, who made the only tally of the game, was ably supported by Captain Jean Fesmire and her co-operative hard-playing team mates. GIRLS' BASKETBALL 194-2-43 was another victorious season for our girls, although the season was somewhat curtailed by the war. This season added 7 more straight wins to the total of 12 straight wins from last year. Credit goes to their captain, Jean Fesmire, who served this position two years, and to her team mates, Marian Buchler, Elsie Foxall, and Bea Wynkoop for their fine work as guards, and to Shirley Peterson, Hulda Borzillo, and Marcy Campoli for their excellent work as forwards.
