M. The success of the team was due to a great extent to the competition afforded by the experienced basketball group from Rockledge. These players combined with L. M.'s veterans formed a combination hard to beat. The girls look forward to the 1942-43 season when, under the leadership of their new captain, Iean Fesmire, they hope to continue in their series of victories for Lower Moreland. The delayed opening of school curtailed the hockey season to the extent of leaving only two league games in the l94l schedule. The results of the games were: L. M.-4, Whitpain-Up L. M.-O, Hatfield-O. Although the hockey season contrib- uted little to experience in league competition, it gave to the squad a season of greatly needed ex- perience in hockey fundamentals. This victory gave the Lions the privilege to represent their league in the P.I.A.A. tournament. This was the first time in the history cf L. M. that one of her teams entered the State Championship Contest. The hard tighting Lions, although losing to Sell-Perk, fthe champions of the Bux Mont Leaguel did not go down without a hard fight. Although losing two varsity players through graduation, the squad has a Very good chance of winning the championship of the League next year. The Lower Moreland eleven took the field for the second season after a lapse of five years. Due to the infantile paralysis epidemic, the schedule was abbreviated to only tive games with no league title at stake. The teams which defeated us were: Royers- iord, East Greenville, and Upper Moreland. Our winning games were Collegeville and Upper More- land, the latter we played twice winning the second time. Although tive seniors are leaving, next year's team has very good prospects through the capable coaching of Mr. Anglemoyer. CThe new coach and Physical Education instructor.l The team is made up of experienced players who have had iorrner experience with coaches Mr. Anqlernoyer and Mr. Robinson. We are looking forward to a successful season this year with our baseball nine. We Wish to thank Mr. Shafer for helping us make this book a success. , .6 t fx' CLUBS DANCING CLUB The Dancing Club, under the able direction of Miss Eveler and Mr. Anglemoyer, has proved itself to be the most popular club in school. The latest recordings furnish the music for those jiving jitterbugs whose faces show deep regret at the sound of the passing bell when they must depart to their other classes. CHORAL CLUB Sometimes above the music of the recordings in Dancing Club, you can hear sweet melodic sounds coming from the music room, which means that Mr. Palmer and the Choral Club members are practicing for a future program or performance. This organization has provided entertainment on several occasions such as Thanksgiving, P. T. A. meetings, and Christmas. It also has filled some outside engagements and all in all, has had an enjoyable year with its sponsor. SCIENCE CLUB With William Paul as president and Mr. Slaybaugh as the sponsor, the Science Club meets in room 3 every Friday morning. Besides taking a trip to the Franklin Institute, this scientific group has a very interesting time developing pictures and making astounding experiments. ART METAL AND SHOP CLUB This club, under the direction of Mr. Shafer, spend their time in the shop making such articles as book-ends, ships, rings, bracelets, tables, etc. This is the first year for this club and it has proved to be popular not only among the boys but also among the girls. ART CLUB The Art Club meets in Room 8 under the supervision of Miss Landis. The club members use their time painting and in other various forms of art in which they are interested. 29 MR.
