During fhe pasf sixfy years Lower Merion has improved and increased greafly in number of sfudenfs and classrooms, amounf of eguip- menf, and variefy of courses. The firsf big sfep for enlargemenf was falcen in l9IO, when fhe fronf secfion of fhe presenf building was builf. Because fhe high school enrollmenf was very small af fhe fime, fhe building also included fhe superinfendenfis office and several ele- menfary school classes. ln l926-I927 wings were added fo fhe main building, doubling ifs size. A big addifion was fhe consfrucfion of fhe adminisfrafion building in I932, providing fwenfy-five addifional classrooms which exisf now. The nexf improvemenf was a fremendous ad- vance for fhe school-fhe addifion of fhe fechnical build- ing. Boys and girls alilre enioy flue excellenf facilifies of fhis building. Affer all fhe classrooms, adminisfrafive offices, and fechnical shops were complefed, Lower lvlerion had all buf one of ifs presenf buildings. The lasf building proiecf, adding a new cafeferia, was underfalcen in l95O-I95l. Lasf year fhe library was moved from flue main building fo flue upper floor of flue cafeferia. The former library rooms were remodeled info new guidance offices and a new office for flue principal. A new affend- ance office and an office for fhe vice-principal were also remodeled from whaf were formerly flue principals offices. Wifh fhe complefion of flue office-building proiecf flue high school reached ifs presenf sfafus. Besides flue main building, adminisfrafion building, fechnical building, and cafeferia, Lower lvlerion now has a library, a fleef of buses and exfensive eguipmenf, The greafly enlarged faculfy of eighfy members now feaches a variefy of sub- iecfs, including commercial, fechnical, general, and col- lege preparalory courses. ln sevenfy years flue enrollmenf has increased from a handful of sfudenfs in I897 fo lo63 sfudenfs in I957, and a small village high school has mafured info fhe presenf Lower Merion Senior High.
