5 Lowell Trade High School Lowell Vocational School I960 Dedic ztitot Miss Margaret E. McCann. The fourth edition of THE KEY. official chronicle of the class of 1960, is affect- ionately dedicated to our principal’s assistant, Miss Margaret E. McCann. During the past forty one years Miss McCann has been the friend and counselor to thousands of boys and girls who entered the portals of the old school on Broadway and our present facilities downtown. Her retirement this year will leave a void that will be impossible to fill We. the members of the class of 1960, feel extremely fortunate to have had the benefit of her advice, counsel, and friendship. Our sincere best wishes to you, Miss McCann, for many years of continued good health, happiness, and contentment. You may be out of sighr, but never out of our hearts. ISajkf ' Pcctuxe fill I ‘Sa cf T cctuiea SoHf Tune of: “If I Give My Heart To You” Lester Waterhouse - 1 - When we leave these two great schools, We will know the golden rules, And we’ll always think with faithfulness, Of the Teachers at the school. - 2 - As we go uur seperate ways, We’ll remember happy days. With the hope that they’ll inspire in us; Goals that will be glorious. - 3 - And now we leave, So sad and alone. Each sigh, each tear is shown. We wish we could be together once more. - 4 - Now the time to leave is here, As we finish up the year. We will always remain true to you, Lowell Trade High School. Ode Tune of: “Have You Ever Been Lonely?” Janet DeLuca - 1 - Farewell to Lowell Trade School, We bid you adieu ; We will always remember the gold and blue. The place where we learned the golden rules, - 2 - Our hearts reveal. Just the way we feel, To all of the Teachers fond thanks we give you, For lessons you taught us, so fine and true. Oh ! How we’ll recall the time that we have spent in school Beginning September, And ending in June. Left to right varsity, bottom row: Carl Eric son, Ray Robitaille, Ronald Sheehan, John Pelletier, second row: Ed Sudol - coach, Boh Taylor, Mike McCoy, George Pappas, Ro- bert Espinola. Vic Bretton. James Martin, Ed Lynch - coach. The team came in 2nd place for the year with an 8-4 record for league competition and an 8-11 record for all games played. The boys got a bad start but didn ' t lose their spirit, for they won the last 8 out of 9 games they played. Due to their fine spirit, at the end of the season there were more fans, and more spirit spread throughout the school. Some even rubbed off on to the teachers, for at the end of the season the teachers faced the varsity team. It was a screaming victory for the teachers. The score was 26 for the varsity team and 11 for the teachers. Although they didn’t walk away with the game, they walked away with the laughs. That’s what I call spirit ! Jr. Varsity, bottom row: Bruce Wilen, Walter Laflame, Tom Kejinon, Donald Dubois, Brian Britton, second row: Joe ail - coach, David Tibbetts. Albert Leduc. Underclassmen: Just a little note to tell you about our four years at L.T.H.S. It was not all play, but quite a bit of work. We started out in High School just as green as you were, but look how we turned out. You can do the same too, if you’ll follow in our footsteps. As we stepped on to the prison grounds, we were suddenly faced with a large group of upperclassmen who gently smeared us with shoe polish of all colors and odors. We all survived our first year and went back as Sophomores. We lost Leo Cam- brav, Jim Clark, Jim Labranche, Joe Cabana and A1 Bevins. We also lost Mr. Collins for six months. Our substitute was Mr. Leahy, who finished out the year. Mr. Gacek was teaching Math, then he left Math class to teach Science. Mr. Sarmento took over our Math class and nearly everyone got “A that marking period. Then Uncle Sam took him away. A permanent teacher was then assigned to our cell. Of course, you all know it was Mr. Walsh. Finally we were JUNIORS and became upperclassmen. This was the year we elected Mr. Collins as our class advisor and we also ordered our class rings. For the first time we had class officers. Joe Vail was elected president ; Richard Noval, secre- tary; Paul Bergeron, vice-president and Louie Courtemache elected treasurer. Everyone remembers the turkey raffle and Boston Ballroom. After slaving throughout that year we became the best known inmates, “the SEN- IORS , being watched upon by the warden. Mr. C. P. Cordon. Our senior class picked up where every other class had left off. Memories such as the “Senior Prom were made possible by our advisor, Mr. Collins. Everything we did was a success. The class gift, a sign, a beautiful sign, a gorgeous sign, was present- ed to the school in the middle of our Senior year. At last! The biggest of all, our PROM. Everyone enjoyed themselves at the graduation party. Last of all, came gradu- ation, the biggest the school ever had. On June 21, 1960 we were granted our diplo- mas which we so nobly earned. Looking back we realize now that it was not a prison, but a heaven full of devils.
