FROM THE DESK OF THE PRESIDENT When you young men and women who comprise the fine class of 1968 arrived at Lowell Tech four years ago, I am sure that graduation seemed a dream to be realized in the distant future. Now the day is close at hand when you will be transferred from our student lists to the ro lls of our Alumni Association. It has been the goal of our educational program to send forth each graduate aware of his vital role in this technological era, eager to assume the mantle of leadership, and assured in the knowledge of his professional competence. You are indeed fortunate to be going into a scientifically oriented society where there is great demand for your unique skills. Industries, colleges, and the govern- ment are competing for your services, and there is ample opportunity for each of you to assume increasingly significant roles in the fields of your choice. For each of you, it now becomes your obligation, as a citizen of a great free nation, to meet the problems which constitute your share of our national effort and to conquer each with assurance and skill. It is, of course, through just this kind of individual acceptance of a personal share in the common purpose that our kind of free government is destined to prevail over difficulties and challenges as yet un- known. During your tenure at LTI the Faculty and Administration have devoted their skills toward supplying you with sound learning, breadth of outlook, and a wise philosophy to sustain you through the coming years.
