President ' s Message As the Class of 1964 this month proceeds from the rank of student to alumni membership in the Lowell Technological Institute, I am reminded of the extraordinary vicissitudes which marked its progress during the collegiate period. Within the four-year span of your college career have occurred national and international events of the greatest political, military, scientific, cultural, and social import. In your personal lives as well, I am sure, each of you already has been confronted by problems, crises, and perhaps even tragedy. Hopefully, however, as an educated person you have faced the uncertainties of the past four years— whether personal, national, or international— with courage and determination. This is as it should be, for in all probability the college graduate of the middle 60 ' s will be called upon to play a more important role in the future of his country and the world he finds than ever his fond parents had envisioned— and your college years should have been a good preparation for the role that you must play. It is my sincere hope that to your task you will bring all the best forces that are in you— that you may be a contributor to your profession, you r community, and your country, and with my heartiest congratulations to you now on your attainments to date go my best wishes that, in the future, success and happiness will crown your personal and professional lives.
