Professor Olney received his B.S. degree from Lehigh University and later his Master ' s and Doctor ' s degrees from the same university. He is a member of the Lehigh chapter of Sigma Xi Fraternity. He has served as instructor at Brown University 1896-1897 and since then as chemist for Lowell Machine Shop, Lowell Board of Health and Lowell Gas Light Company. He has also had practical experience in the Dyeing and Finishing Departments of the Stirling Mills and is at the present time Presi- dent of that Corporation. He has been connected with the school since 1897. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science; Charter member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers; Past President of the New England Section and Councillor of the American Chemical Society; Associate Editor of the Abstract Journal of the American Chemical Society; Member of Society of Chemical Industry, and Society of Dyers and Colorists; Past President and Chairman of Research Committee of the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists, and Directing Editor of American Dyestuff Reporter.
