Ra Riddick The Lowell High School tllass of 1976 mourns the death of our loved and respected head football coach, Raymond E. Riddick. Mr. Riddick, a Lowell native, began his football career at Lowell High School, where he was team captain and all state end in 1934. After high school. he was a letterman at Fordham lfniversity for three years. As a senior at Fordham, he was an All East selection and played on the first All Star team which defeated the New York Giants in 1940. ' The Green Bay Packers signed Mr, Riddick fresh out of Fordham, and, in his second year, he was Q named to the All Pro second team. His pro football career, which was interrupted by three years in the Navy, ended in 1946, when he became assistant football coach at Lowell High. For 29 years. Mr. Riddick guided Lowell High football teams to successful seasons. His record of 180 wins, 73 losses, and 14 ties, 10 undefeated seasons and 4 trips to post season bowl games, established him among the ranks of the top high school coaches in the nation. The recipient of numerous civic awards. Mr. Riddick was inducted into the Fordham University Hall of Fame on May 16. 1975. Our class shares the grief of his family and friends. We have all lost a great and good man. We have all been diminished by his death. 10
