During the years of her membership in the Lowell High School faculty, Miss Quinn earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues through her dedica- tion to the study of the classics. Her students will long remember The Lady of the Lake, The ldylls of the King, and other great works to which she devoted many teaching hours. Her example as a member of the teaching profession has been an inspiration to those who espouse the traditional values of educa- tion. Realizing that the Lowell High School will be dimin- ished by the absence of Miss Quinn, the Senior Class wishes to thank her for her years of dedication to her profession. We wish her joy in her retirement. Throughout his 35 years at Lowell High, Iohn Leary enjoyed an enviable reputation as a capable adminis- trator, a widely-read classics scholar, a demanding teacher who was always willing to give as much of himself as he expected of others and, most important, a real friend to countless students and colleagues. ln the Boston College yearbook of 1930, lack Leary's classmates accurately observed: Here's a man who does everything, thinks everything, and says every- thing with a smile. lack is one fellow who never seems to find anything in the world to displease him, and this happy faculty has drawn to him a host of real friends and made him a favorite in any class or gathering. Now, many years and many yearbooks later, lack Leary's host of real friends, past and present, faculty and students alike, wish him every happiness in his retirement. His presence at the Lowell High School will be long felt. 118 Office Staff School Nurses Mary Brady Mary Eyres If nn sw? The most significant of these occurred three years ago when members of the class of 1972 voted overwhelmingly for a fall delivery of the yearbook. Since then, a large majority of each class has been in favor of this procedure. Lowell High School is the only major high school in the area to choose a fall delivery although most colleges have been receiving their books in the fall for many years. Late delivery permits a larger yearbook, with full coverage of all senior activities, up to, and including graduation. Other major changes in The Spindle include 16 full color pages, the largest color section g of any high school yearbook in New England, f 3 and the addition of 64 pages. ln the last two ,,,A years, the book has been enlarged from 176 to 240 pages, SPORTS EDITORI l0e Qllifllifl ADVERTISING STAFF: Cindy Garrett, Betty Frappier SENIOR STAFF: Bill Mercier, Bill ADVERTISING STAFF: Debbie Bovill, Gayle Zeller, Iackie Thomas Carignan, Ann Sweeney. November, 1973 - a time of rebirth, revival, beginning, for Red and Gray hockey. Three lines, three goalies, green, fresh rookies straight from no- where. Their inexperience showed in the games and ultimately, the scores, but they skated well and surpassed their coachls expectations. They also improved as the season wore on. As a matter of fact, the Raiders knocked off Lawrence twice in the latter stages of the year, missing the shutout by a few seconds in their last encounter. There are no individual stars to be men- tioned hereg as Coach Sullivan once stated, everything was accomplished through team effort. And sorry, there are no stats worthy to be spread across these yearbook pages, either. You seniors need not be embarrassed, though. When you read of your alma mater's success on the ice in future years, remember that you helped to form a sturdy foundation for a very strong team. , J , Kneeling: Neil Murphy, Phil Richards, Dave Boucher, Iim Donovan, Bob Kelleher, Cary Desmond, Matt King, Harry Anastopoulos, Bob O'Neil.
