RAYMOND A. SULLIVA N H eaa' 771 asfezf For twenty-six years, ever since Mrs. Edward O. McCarthy, formerly Janet McEvoy, incorporated the adiectives Honest, Faithful and Courageous, Loyal, into the school song, succeeding classes have sung the words at informal and formal occasions here at Lowell High School. The words form the slogan for the class of '55 and pro- vide the theme for this year's edition of The Spindle. Always appli- cable to the ideals of conduct for an individual, a class, a school or a democracy, qualities of honesty, faith, courage, and loyalty ex- emplify the highly desirable ambitions we have tried to instill into the graduates. As each student wove the pattern of a career at Lowell High School, we have endeavored, also, to provide him with the training which would best help him to meet the demands of his particular life. There have been extensive changes in the curriculum since the first public high school was organized in Lowell in l853. Expanding enrollment has demanded increased and varied courses. Whether the seniors have followed the academic, the commercial, the general, the practical or the scientific course of study, we hope that they will remember to be Honest, Faithful, and Courageous, Loyal. 5
