Clubs PRE-MED The students interested in medical professions had a wealth of information at their disposal thanks to the Pre-Med club. Fall officers: President Corliss Lee, Vice-pres- ident Amy Yee, Secretaries Jackie Markham and Eleanor Kuroda, Publicity Anne Meyers and Juliana Mah. Spring officers: Presdient Corliss Lee, Vice-pres- ident Tommy Ngai, Secretary Jackie Markham, Pub- licity Anne Meyers, Chris Jang, and Alyce Masuda. The success of this club, noted Sponsor Nancy Brewer, can be attributed to the good officers. The club, in hoping to maintain a strong organization in years to come, encourages anyone to become a mem- ber. Field trips to Stanford and plans for a Health Fair are projected for the future. Mrs. Brewer hopes that the club will continue to stress the preventative aspects of medicine including nutrition, exercise, and mental health. RED CROSS The Red Cross, one of the traditional school clubs, was headed by president Mary Xi, vice- president Debbie Nylund, secretary Maris Nervarez, and treasurer Mike Ugarra. Mrs Elena Catelli served as sponsor. Their first activity was a paperback and comic book drive to benefit shut-ins of all ages in SF hospitals. Holiday cards and favors were made for patients of Laguna Honda and UC hospitals. The Red Cross participated in the annual Cardinal Camival. Members pitched in and organized a profitable White Elephant sale. This year proved rewarding for mem- bers, having helped patients morale throughout SF hospitals. GASTRONOMIC GOURMET SOCIETY A relatively new club for the gourmet types at Lowell, the GGS went on outings to restaurants to s sample gourmet foods under the planning of president Julie Block and sponsor David Madfes. They held a pretzel sale and had ethnic dinners of their own pre- paration. The final dinner at the Basque Hotel, May 27, added to the succem of the club. ARCHITECTS 8: ENGINEERS The Architects and Engineers Club is a unique and interesting club with Mr. Peter Dahl as advisor and the Army- Corps of Engineers and the Explorer division of the Boy Scouts of America as sponsors. The club meets every other week and has a field trip or a guest speaker almost every month.
