THIS IS OUR STORY . . . it begins as an idea unborn, as a collection of blank pages, as a dream to be fulfilled. At the start many factors were to be considered. There was a photographer to choose, a printer to be decided upon, and most important, a theme and dummy to be carefully planned an-d or- ganized. The dummy is a rough draft of the actual yearbook, necessary in approximating costs, determining layouts, and presenting an advanced look at the final product. We had something extra to contend with -change. lt was necessary for us to tread on new ground for we altered the shape of the book, the materials which were used and the-overall pattern and design. Next came the lists -the never-ending lists: what-to-do-today lists, graduation lists, -class lists, club, page, advertising and activity lists. There were a thousand loose ends that had to be sorted and woven into a reasonable pattern. l lt was our aim to provide you with a.book that would truly be yours -a living record of your year.fThis was our aim, and you the classes of Fall '57 and Spring '58 proved that this was your desire, too, for it was your spirit that pulled us through the rough times. Pictures constitute a space majority in this album, and we owe a great debt to BudlBosco and his camera crew for this. We'll never be able to repay his sincere interest and concern.. We bid our thanks to Miss Harrison, -Mr. Perino, -Mrs. Higgins, -Miss Osuna and Miss McBride for their understanding above and beyond the call of duty. We appreciate Russ Leland's cover design, Keiko Yamagami's artistic contributions, Jan Vanderburgh's level-headedness and our student photographers' gritty determination. Mere words cannot express our appreciation to Mr. Brauer, who dedicated himself to this publication. Without Mr. Brauer's suggestions, fortitude, calmness, good sense and downright hard work this book would never come out. We thank the unsung heroes for their unselfish work in your behalf. This book has gone through so much difficulty and confusion that at one time we felt like giving up. We couldn't give up though, for we, the Editors, felt that the '58's worth had to be known. This Red and White is a part of usp if you feel one-tenth of what we feel then our hopes have been reached and our dreams have been fulfilled. The tears, frustration, concern and sleepless nights will not have been in vain. Wg present you with YOUR 1958 Red and White - our story is ended, yours is just beginning - rea on.
