CONNIE COVINGTON GINGER TREADWELL Fall President Spring President Ellzur -Qlahwn A very important part of our palace is the Girls Block L This year was a very enjoyable one for all the girls Under the leadership of the Fall of ficers President Connie Covington and Secre tary Sonya Cranston a term of successful ac tivities were planned With the Boys Block L the girls helped to plan the traditional Block L Dance Everyone came and had a terrific time The Girls Block L then planned a wonder ful Roller Skating Party Everyone had a great time even if they spent part of it on the floor The high light of the Fall term s activities was the Banquet at Eth El Berts The new Spring Term officers were announced' Much GIRLS 13211112 'nn to the delight of all Ginger Treadwell was elected president and Barbara Scalabrino was elected secretary Under the leadership of the new officers another term of wonderful activities were planned Another Block L Dance was given with the Boys Block L and as usual it was a great success The Girls Block L Social Committee planned a picnic at Tilden Park in Berkeley One of the other successful activities that they planned was the Roller Skating Party at Skate Land The Block L Banquet closed this term s ac tivities for the girls Every one agreed that the Girls Block L is really tops and after taking two years of a sport it is an honor worth work ing for BLOCK L 0 0,-,DOH it ww Cl ff! are 4? 2.45, 551.1 J Wt n F3 sf. Muto. ff' 2 'Q GBIII' LKHIQHTE In Armnnr To earn a Block L whale at Lowell IS no easy job tor Lowell has the hardest system of awards known an the San Francusco School System It you aren t on a champlonshlp team the block means three years of work ln your mdlvudual sport So the boys on the Lowell Block L wre very deservrng The Boys Block L also forms an Important part ot the school s actlvltles The boys wearlng the bug Block L are respected by all and thus they form the cenral nucleus lor the Lowell tradntlons and future The two dances sponsored by the Block L were no exceptlons to the tradltlon that the Block L dances have established The new comers have always seemed to look up to the boys ot the Block L as they should for as ln any school system an athletrc block ns an honor equal to any other achnevement The Block L had a tune set of leaders last year ln the tall they were headed by Jerry Jacoby presldent Dave Murphy vrce pres: dent Al Sommers clerk of awards and Paul Rosenthal sergeant at arms ln the sprung the presndent was Harry Greenberg vlce prexy Jrm Thomas and the clerk ot awards Al Sommers Many ot the wearers of the Block L wall contunue to carry on thelr athletnc careers when graduated from Lowell They wlll be the future All Amerncans and Olymplc champs Those who don t continue will have In their past an nmpor tant element the achievement ot athletlc suc cess and a Block L SPRING BLOCK L P95 f-Mig' Nt fm M.
