Under a delusion ex- pressed in the title, Newton Fuller pur- chases the abandoned place. Later, he Ends the conclusion to be historically inaccurate, for Benedict Arnold, not George, slept in the dilapidation. After this temporary set-back, Newton's his- torical mistake exhibits real problems. Between incessant calls for more gravel, absence of adequate roofing, the neces- sity for transporting all water from an adjoining river, no road to the house, rising expenses, the Fuller budget suf- fers. In the meantime, daughter Madge gets into difficulties with the country theatricals. The climax is the visit of the 17 year locusts. Annabelle's impres- sion is that an Insect Convention has been called on the site! Trains, week-end guests, and finally the arrival of wealthy Uncle Stanley adds to the complications. At which point, Mr. Prescott, an amiable misanthrope, accuses the Fullers of encroaching on his property, digging a well which taps his water supply, as well as using his pri- vate road. And he is not happy at the childlike characteristics of playful Ray- mond, whom you would like hanging around your house-by the neck!! Pres- cott's threat of foreclosure forces Anna- belle to admit her love for the recondi- tioned wreck. At this time, to save the house, the Fullers brave the wrath of Uncle Stanley to ask his assistance, only to End his millions are non-existent. He decided that people would take care of him so long as there was a probability of inheritance, so why clisillusion them? An apple cider bout reverses the picture of the situation in the mlinds of all con- cerned, and only a suggestion is required to start house-wrecking before the fore- closure. After a methodical and efhcient job of hatchet-wielding, a surprise coup restores the possession to the Fullers, too late to forestall the deluge as a hurricane breaks about their ears! The audience goes out just where the play came in . . . what a circle!! - if .. .,,. . 5, .V g., . 2 1 M E 'h w 2 Ti? il if E3 3 I: 5 IX 15 Z' y Y 1 E? Due to pre-season injuries of Quarter- backs Moscrop and Williams and Full- back Gitchell, the future varsity started slowly. After a few games under their belts, the Indian Papooses met the Com- merce Pups and were edged by a margin of 7 to 6. A pass from Quarterback Mouse Moscrop to lanky End Simmons netted the score. This was the closest the team came to victory this season. Coach Lighty says, Maybe next time! There was some fine material this year. Look for these names on the 1945 varsity: Neshanian, Gitchell, Jenson, Moscrop, and Williains in the backfieldg Baker, Kluge, Brooks, Putney, Dunn, and Sim- mons in the line. A An. Elder, Mr. N. Levy, and Mr. Peterson ofqthe Walter Mann Co., and Mr. Watson and Mr. Tappendorff of the Lexicon Press, who printed and engraved our advance publicity, Mr. Doherty of the Fisher Studios, who shot our stage hands, the OPA, who out of the good- ness of their darling little hearts, gave us a priority for Elm, and last, but not least, the staff who moaned louder than we did, but really did some good work, especially Bob McVey, Barbara Preston, and Ronald Crawford, whose respective photography, art work, and general dirty work helped us immensely. All in all, it was a good performance!!! l Nancy Lowe, Editor Jeanne Plumb, Editor Nancy Ruttencutter, Editor
