FOREWORD NEARLY EIGHTY-EIGHT PER CENT OF LOWELL ' S MANY STU- DENTS LEAVE HER PORTALS TO GO ON TO INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING. FOR THIS REASON WE HAVE SET THE THEME OF THIS BOOK AS COLLEGE LIFE. WE HAVE ENDEAV- ORED TO TAKE THOSE UNIVERSITIES WHOSE ACCOMPLISH- MENTS IN CERTAIN FIELDS ARE ESPECIALLY NOTABLE.
