Wiley, M. Beeson, J. Poynter, D. Moon, G. Wilson T. Lacock, l.. Blood, and J. Lacock. I Changing from the single wing to the T formation the Red Devils were slow in getting started. Losing their opener to Monroe by a score of 32 to 7, Mr. Bob Butler and Mr. John Hepner offered their assistance to Mr. James Carmichael and Mr. Lyle Carter, and before long the team began to shape, winningtheir next contest over Siletz, who later were champions of their district. But still playing ragged ball the coach went back to work on the backfield starts and the linemen's blocking. The next time the Red Devils got a chance to show their ability was a game with Pleasant Hill, which ended in a 13-13 deadlock, with P. H. scoring their last touchdown off Lowell's Freshmen. From Pleasant Hill the team moved to Springfield for a scrim- mage with the Springfield J. V.'s, losing by one touchdown. Then the work started. The Red Devils were faced with some very fine competition, the first being Sutherlin, an A school, who won by a score of 25-0. ln a sea of mud and rain Oakland came next to beat the Devils by a score of 12-6, although the Red Devils scored two touchdowns that were called back due to penalties. The next disappointment came when the Red Devils played one of the standout teams of the state, Bandon. The Devils played fine ball this game but lost to this superior club by a score of 33-7. Getting ready for the biggest game of the year the Red Devils moved to Cottage Grove to brush up on their offense against Cottage Grove J. V. Lowell came out on top by a score of 40-26. All fired up for the game that meant the district championship, the Red Devils moved to junction City to meet Monroe, who were highly favored over the underdog Red Devils. The game ended with Monroe scoring only one touch- down. For the first time this season this fine offensive club was held to one score, the final score being, Monroe, 7 - Lowell, 0.
