S St es Colorful Conven non One event that highlighted this election year was our own political convention. Headed by A.S.B. Secretary Liz Allor, it accomplished its goal in providing a more interesting and realistic form of voting. Final preparations began the night be- fore on january 24. State chairpersons, candidates, cabinet members and volun- teers all combined efforts to decorate and set up the convention hall-alias the gym. By morning the transformation had taken place and then the big event began. Liz Allor brought the convention to or- der and things went quickly from that point on. All A.S.B. offices, except Presi- dent and Vice President were voted on, and the cheerleaders were presented. After break, speakers, including La Habra's Mayor Robin Young, lectured on various topics. Following this, the positions of President and Vice President were voted on, and the new officers were elected. The convention proved to be a success- ful one, filled with cheering, tears, and most of all a lot of happy people, who were glad they got out of morning classes. 1f4f 28-Convention has-L -S 8. 30-Musical ...-...J ff I Q Sehl ellvs Grand Imperial Presented with all its colorful brilliance and glitter for six nights in Lowell's PAC, the Broadway musical, Carnival, was a big hit with the audience and with those who helped with its production. During all the confusion of the carnival a love triangle comes to light. Paul Bertha- let, CRichard Schachterj, a puppeteer with the carnival, falls in love with Lili Daurier, fLori Schoenbergerj, a naive young girl who came looking for a job, but she falls in love with Marco the Magnificent, fLarry Parkerj, a charming and debonair magi- clan. If this isn't enough the carnival is failing and Rosalie, U an Rosenbergerl, Marco's as- sistant and mistress, is threatening to run away with Dr. Wilhein Glass, CRon john- stonj, of Zurich. Paul's and jacquot's pup- pets get into the act and as the play ends they and Lili save the circus and she and Paul realize their love. Others who took major roles were Joshua Townshend-Zellner-Iaquotg Bill Ko- ntnr-B. F. Schlegelg and Don Gibson-Gro- bert.
