Whoti s Enterfroinmenuiw Highlights Homecoming On October 22 an assortment of would- be stars, coupled with Hans VonSteinbeck, a German talent scout, helped carry out the Homecoming! Halloween Assembly's theme, That's Entertainmentf' To lead off the show a graceful dancing bear did a ballet. Then came our Yell and Song leaders and the Mascots, alias Shirley Temples, dancing to Animal Crackers in My Soupf' And last, but not least, the re- nowned Italian singer Tony Linguinni sang Tiptoe Through the Tulips. Next on the program the Homecoming Representatives were introduced, followed by the com- petition yell which was won by the seniors. Prior to all this commotion, other im- portant events took place. On October 7, the Seniors were allowed to leave their fourth period classes fifteen minutes early. They went to the quad, where they voted on the people they thought should receive the honor of becoming Homecoming Rep- resentatives. This was the first year that Lowell has had a Homecoming Representative. Up to this year we have always had a Home- coming Queen. This change was brought about by Title 9, which states that there can be no reference to gender in any school related matters. The eleven girls who were nominated for the Homecoming Court were an- nounced on Friday, October 8. A week later dining break, lunch, and after school the entire student body picked the five lucky girls from which our Representative was chosen. Then on the night of October 22, the Homecoming Representative of 1976-77 was crowned. HOMECOMINC NOMINEES Front To Back fstand- ingl: Sharon Himes, Tracey Veyna, Corie Clapp, Di- ana Davis, Denise Toombs, Cathy Lew, Karen Ellis. fsittingl: Lori Hemandcz, janet Kern, Kathryn Dil- lenbeck, Christina Moses. 14 Homecoming
