The Red Devils opened their training season with only two lettermen. Around this nucleus was built a sound and well conditioned squad. At the end of the season there were 10 men on the Cross Country squad: Seniors-Captain, Leon Sirois; Jerome Jackson, most valuable; and Milford Murray. Juniors-Captain-eiect, Bill Sisson (also most valuable), Roger Parks. Sophomores-Bobby Burger, Eddie Schuring, Terry Cox, Terry McCarty and Dennis Brown. The Devils improved rapidly as the season progressed. They finished strong with wins in the last two meets and by placing well in the State Sectional at Hobart. Class Prophecy The Year 1965 “Ladies and gentlemen, this is Dorothy Stephan, roving reporter, reporting that there is a large crowd viewing this annual Petunia Bowl Parade on this crisp day. We believe there are also millions of people watching on their color-taste-feelo-vision sets. Judy Schissler and Betty Hardesty, running for President and Vice-President on the Lovely ticket, tore them¬ selves away from a busy schedule to make an appearance at this. They are passing now. The applause is deafening. The parade is now progressing down the avenue with Joyce Barman, famed secretary of Herbert Hoover, driv¬ ing her boss. Joyce Bradley, the Golden Girl of 1965, is being carried down the avenue on a 14-carat gold float. Joan Clark, head of the Plush Pajama Factory, entered a float with a giant replica of Wee-Willie-Winkie. Accompanied by a fanfare of music. Madam Frances Mussman enters with her Paris Originals banked on lettuce leaves. Wait! Wait! Here comes Bill Chlupsa now, in his car that won him the trophy of 1955. Following him closely is “Jiggers” Sirois, winner of the Mexican Road Race. The entree from the “Supersonic Swift Shortning Com¬ pany , whose owner is Lloyd Spry, is really good this year. The “Mamma Musch ' s Mush-Much Company (founder Clara Musch), outdid themselves with a super-giant bowl of that hot cereal. The Gorgeous George Schutz Model Agency entered with an elaborate float with Ruthie Werner, the agency ' s star model, the main point of interest on the float. There is a halt in the parade, followed by Gertrude Einink, the famous trick horse rider. The float from Kenny Fetsch’s Bouncing Basketball factory is a monstrous basketball mounted on a basketball court. Our next scene is a float with a few marvelous bargains from Mona Ree Herbst’s used car lot, colled “Mona ' s Moment of Madness. The Toni Twins, Nancy and Wardina Hill, are mounted on a huge curler float, soaked with curling lotion and neutral i zer. Fern Hutton entered a huge solid platinum button on wheels from Struttin’ Hutton’s Buttons. Now it ' s noon, and everyone rushes for the restaurants. Th® beauties on the floats are left stranded atop their floats, but Charlie Larson comes to the rescue to help them all! Let ' s drop into the Wall Deaf Castoria and see all the famous people. We see three tables reserved for Val Koble. He really must be an eater. We just can’t help noticing Pat Collins. If you remember her chemistry lab experiments, you’ll know how she discovered “Amazo-Grower and experimented on herself! There sitting at the corner table are Orville and Edgar Corns, co-designers of the car that won in 1955, also inventers of “Whizzo Corn Remover.” Virginia Copelin, the famous designer of the Collie Cut, the current hair rage, is eating her egg toasted. Looking over the banquet table from left to right, we see the famous scientist, Terry Lindemer, who now carries on conversations with the Martians with his perfected radio set; Bob Johnson, the doctor who discovered the cure for the ingrown toe-nail; Peg Isler, the inventor of the Auto-Diaper Wash; Frank Sykora, a nose-bleed specialist; Lola Mae Honn, the women ' s wrestling trainer; Norman Love, who, by propping his droopy head is still carrying on his record for sleeping the mostest and the longest; Cathi Bales who won the Nobel Prize for art by entering her “mobile”; Rex Brown, the jazz organist; Allen Kennedy, called “Cueball because he is the champion pool player of the world; Florence Kiehn, who makes sculpture pieces from paper clips and rubber bands; and Mary K. Merchant, the famous lawyer who freed Max McRoberts of the charge of murdering Carl Ludvigson over an argument about Marilyn Tully. The featured acts here are Chris Franzen and Dave Searle, Apache Dancers; Janet Purkey, the French blues singer; and Bob Waggoner, the famous comedian. Bob Reed and his Crazy Cats band, featuring Jazzy Jerome Jackson on his sousaphone, are entertaining here. Sharon Miller, the first woman to play Moonlight Sonata” on the moon, came down long enough to do an engagement at this restaurant. Class Prophecy “Tilberry Turnips”, the rave dish created by Lewis Childress, is the exotic featured dish. Another main dish is “Succulent Savory Selected Seasoned Smoked Supreme Steak Special , from Bill Viers’ experimental steers. Dolores Childress, her husband, and her twelve children are dining out this evening. Chatting to Dolores is Erna Adam and Gerald Patz, who together discovered the cure for the common cold. Eating milk toast for their ulcers are Shirley Marshall and Beverly Etzel, owners of a Marshmellow and Pretzel factory. I wonder what that commotion is outside. Let ' s step out and have a look. Ah, yes, everyone’s going to Dawn Darling s premiere of her newest picture. She is the former Darlene Childress. Oh! There she is! She’s talking to Tootsie Rolla, the famous actress (Tootsie Mueller of Lowell); Ronnie Peterson, who is a distant relative of Marilyn Monroe; Larry Vassar, President of Vassar College; Mary Ann Brauer, the famous psycho-analyst; Dean Wedding, the famous author of the renowned book, Beware of Women!” with Dean is his assistant, George Sharp, in charge of pencils; and Tom Burgess, the coach of the Lowell Red Devils, nationally famous for winning all their games since 1954. In the audience we see Louise Lutgen, who invented the mistake eraser on the typewriter; Jon Surprise, brilliant electricity technologist who invented the invisible ray gun (he glows in the dark). June Abramson, archaeologist who discovered some rare vases; her foreman. Bill Urbancyzk; George Van Curen, who got a trophy for catching a prehistoric fish; Shirley Justak, heac( of Continental Travel Agency; Shirley Singleton, the chili maker at the Chez Paree; Ned Hart, who invented the automatic tablesetter; Norma Goff, the great woman golfer; Ronnie Hamman, world’s champion flag pole sitter; Milford Murray, the final judge in the Cupid Contest; Larry Littlefield, now a pediatrician; Bill McKee, whose finger paintings are the rage of the art world; Marvin Miller, scorer for the Globe-Trotters; Karen Nethe ry, first to hop around the world on a pago stick; Bill Poer, who runs the Rich Farm; Bill Cox, famous singer of folk songs; Mary Forburger, inventor of the back- burger; Juanita Devins, skating star who got her start on Bill Miller’s pond(her manager); Joyce Peterson, who is a therapist for crazy bones; Audrey Pattee, famous Beddy-Time Story writer; and Kay Roy, chemistry teacher at Lowell High School, Lowell, Indiana. After the show, we were shown out by Raymond Schutz, the usher. Out in the street we stopped at a peanut wagon. We recognized the proprietor as Carole Schafer. Marvin Scheidt was measuring the salt to put on a fresh batch. From Ruth Theis, the corner policewoman, we learned that because Janette Wood didn’t want to change her name, she married Clayton Wood; now they have two boys named Twig and Branch, and live in the Enchanted Forest. We nowleave the benighted cl ass of 1954 to the real future. May the Good Lord Bless and Keep You! pi OREK ' Rtfct FtfSSHHUt..
