the modern student is not unlike a modern painting the first impression of either is one of complexity or even confusion however both are contemporary products of our current society the evolution of a society affects the personality of an individual and results in a new and different personality and art expression in a modern painting the various forms and shapes used create a pattern which becomes the dominating theme of the painting the modern student forms and shapes his opinions from a complexity of ideas and creates a pattern which becomes his guide to the future a modern painting changes its two-dimensions through the use of perspective which results in depth the current student broadens his mind through education which results in a wider perspective and greater depth of understanding the composition of a modern painting has all of the important artistic qualities of the past plus the current means of expression the composition of the current student includes all the important basic elements of the past plus the effects of our constantly changing society
