Remember way back- when you were Sophomores . . . how unsure of your- self you were in the new High School plant . . . and now it's the other way around. The opening lectures on school rules - football season, tired boys, crew cuts, and great ex- A pectations. The first game and all the school spirit -- the oh's and ah's when the team lost. The feeds on Wednesday nights. Pep crisp autumn air. Red-faced, stut- tering speakers. The crowning of the football queen and the proces- sion that burned the Spirit of Por- tales. The first game the team won - how happy everyone wasl The ,N class meetings where everybody said something about nothing. The Rain- bow and DeMolay dances . . . every- one looked so good dressed formal. TTT The Junior Play and Shoot a mile, yes. The last minute rushes to the library during book reports and themes - phony references and innocent looks. Then the dark clouds ,of nine weeks exams appeared. Everyone cramming. The Senior iPlay.k The last minute xxx rush for a date before the dance. The State Track Meet in Albuquer- que. Those last few weeks . . . the sorrowful and radiant faces. Cap . ' and gown rehearsal . . . everyone looking sad. Baccalaureate and Commencement -- everyone looking prim. The last dance and wee hours.
