You see, if you’ve ever been on the Wisconsin slopes after the wind comes up and the sun goes down, you can find yourself in a whole lotta trouble, people. But what you gotta do is keep youself to- gether, keep everybody warm, and always remember to keep ridin’ the storm out.” On January 8th the senior class left for Alpine Valley Ski Resort in East Troy, Wisconsin. We planned to stay until the 10th, but because of record breaking low temperatures, high winds, and heavy snowfall, we could not leave until the I Ith. Since we were so good, the management gave us the third night free. While we were there we skied Fri- day night and some Saturday, even though the wind chill was -75 F. This didn’t stop Jay, Ed and Carol. Sunday the slopes were closed be- cause of the -95 wind chill. In the evenings we could enjoy the sauna, whirlpool and swimming pool, where we encountered a guy with a nice looking, young, inflatable doll. There was also a game room to amuse us. Kenny and Dennis enjoyed the “Amusement Center”. The class could have steak or what- ever else we wanted to eat every night. The ski lessons came in handy for some. Even after lessons, Janine wasn’t ready to go down the hardest slope, but once you are at the top there is only one way down. The rooms were another story. They were very nice, even though Larry found a dirty book in the corner of his. The closets came in handy, because they were big enough to put Jim in when we got tired of him. The community room (Tracy, Terry, Carol and Rhonda’s) was voted the messiest. The rooms had nice views of the slopes, and Rod could be found peeping through the window with his camera taking pictures of the girls. The boys room was also messy, and they hoped Mrs. Uphoff didn’t look under their beds. We al agreed that Right Guard saved our lives when Ike was patrolling the halls. All this was included in the $150.00 ski package. Other memories are: Tracy putting Carol into the vibrat- ing bed. Carol Smith and the Southern Com- fort Bottle. Jay saying, “But Mr. Mac, we were only going to listen to the band.” “Single, Single”. Carol and Terry and the guys in room 114. Singing “Billy left home with a dol- lar in his pocket and a head full of fleas. Teresa, Bev, Jayme, Les and Jeff along with the other seniors agree that this was “The Best of Times”, and we will always remember the good times we had together. 10 Don't cry, girls. Dennis the Menace Jayme enjoying the game Terry deposits yearbook money. Who’s behind those Foster Grant’s? Why, it’s Larry. Jim, Lcs and Kenny wait to play their last home game. Gullick Superintendent Helping young people prepare for a successful future has al- ways been my primary goal as an educator. Though adminis- tration is often removed from the close personal contact with students, the best I have to offer is demanded so that their education will be one of quality. In the spirit of the 1982 MIRROR’S theme, the song that 1 always think of is THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM, from THE MAN OF LA MANCHA (Don Quixote). Working together diligently, perhaps our dreams of a better world will be made possible through a good education. Dale Farr Principal IPs Still L.H.S. To Me (Sung to Billy Joel’s It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me) What’s the matter with the clothes I’m wearing? What’cha mean that my ties too wide? Maybe I should buy some Izod sweaters. Welcome back to the age of jive. Where have you been hiding out lately, Seniors. You can’t graduate till you’ve passed all your classes. Everybody’s talking about the new school coming. But it’s still L.H.S. to me. The yearbook staff asked me to write something about myself in song, and this was my best endeavor. I enjoy being a princi- pal at L.H.S. where I feel students can enjoy going to a small community high school while still achieving high academic standards. Looking backward over an enjoyable two years and forward to many more “Where it’s still L.H.S. to me”. 28 High School Faculty Larry Allen — Chemistry Don Bell — Business Advisor — Projectionist Club, Key Club. Did you know that Jill Austin was caught walking down a “Lane” trying to “Cesar” horse that ran away from home? It was later found flying away in Bob Cochran’s weather balloon. We jumped in the weather balloon and flew over by Charleston seeking to find where the rock music was coming from. Come to find out, it was Jeff Stovall and Dennis Coslow playing with AC DC at Ted’s Warehouse. We were sitting enjoying the music when we heard someone yelling from the crowd, Morr, Morr, Morr. Come to find out, it was Karen Stinson. Back in the balloon, we hadn’t flown two blocks when we discovered J.W. Day and Ken Franklin’s own beauty parlor. Once we checked out the new Jay and Ken styles, we prowled around the other rooms and found Rhonda Morgan taking J.W. up on his offer to get her hair done. The parlor was covered with mirrors. I looked on the tag of one of the mirrors and was surprised to find that it came from Eric Lecrone’s Window Sales. While we were there, the phone rang. Everyone was busy so I answered it. Janine Gullick wanted to make an appointment to get crazy. We were drifting over Chicago when we saw Terry Smith and Kevin dining at the Playboy Club. We noticed a flash of light. We turned around and saw, to no surprise, Rod Newberry taking pictures of the bunnies. His trustworthy secretary, Jayme Isaacs, was at his side. We then took off towards New York, where we spotted Carol Wesolek working at “Blooming” Dales as a fashion designer. Just down the street, we say Marty Minor’s Used Car Lot where Ed Reedy was selling his special, deluxe Falcons. Next door was Betty Jo Seelow’s Snowmobile Lot, and Teresa Reedy was in the office doing her bookkeeping. We were all hungry and stopped at the Dairy Queen where Bev Renfro waited on us. While we were eating Dilly Bars, we noticed a poster that urged people to join the Bob Seeger fan club with Tracy Smith as president. We were getting tired, so we headed back to the Big L. When we arrived, Larry Thompson had pur- chased Glancy’s Hardware Store and Jim Drone was working as his janitor. We suddently realized it was Homecoming, so we headed for the dance. When we got there, we found Les Staples handing out doggy bags at the door. As we were leaving the dance, we heard shouting on the roof. Looking up, we discovered Mrs. Uphoff searching for the Class of ’82. 44 Will We, the members of the Lovington High School Senior Class of 1982, being of good health and of sound mind and memory, and believing in the certainty of our near departure from the aforesaid school, do hereby make and declare this instrument of writing to be our last will and testament as seniors and students of L.H.S. I, Jill Austin, leave anyone the chance to have the honor of being adoped by a senior class to anyone who deserves it. I. Bob Cochran, leave 1000 acres in Cambodia and a motorcycle headband to Dennis Coslow. I, Dennis Coslow, leave Steve Finke the ability to get really stupid in band without me. 1, J.W. Day, leave to my brother, Jon, some simple advice ... always sign out before leaving to go grocery shopping. I. Jim Drone, leave the chance to give a better excuse to get into class to anyone who thinks they can think up more excuses than I have in the last four years. I, Kenny Franklin, leave Kevin “Speedy Franklin a fast car to go as fast as his lead foot wants to. I, Janine Gullick, would like to leave Mrs. Thompson Calvanizcd, but I still just leave her Preppy. I, Jayme Isaacs, leave. I, Rhonda Morgan, leave to Stacey Brown a spare tire, a watch, and a key to Room 24 at the Gateway Inn. I, Rod Newberry, leave Mr. Morgan in hopes that someone else will take as many pictures of girls as I did to make photography a more interest- ing class. I, Ed Reedy, leave Mr. Gullick a new set of locks that lock themselves. I, Teresa Reedy, leave Jody Stovall a bigger room in which to cook sandwiches. I, Bev Renfro, would like to leave $600 to the athletic budget so that they can still have a girls’ basketball team. We, Terry Smith and Carol Wcsolek, leave to Kim Wesolck and Amy Walters the memories of our weekend pigouts and all the good times we’ve had. I, Tracy Smith, leave to Jody Stovall the opportunity to see all of an Ozzic Ozborne concert. I. Leslie Staples, leave my running ability to Coach Gale so that he can catch anyone who calls him “Bilco.’’ I, Jeff Stovall, leave a shiny new dime to anyone who can outdo my epileptic seizures. I, Larry Thompson, leave nothing to everyone who has called me Speedy, Junior. We, Betty Seelow, Eric Lecrone and Karen Stinson, leave midterm to pursue future careers. To the faculty we leave the following: Mr. Allen a chance to fiddle with the Charlie Daniel’s Band. Mr. Bell a Key club who will show up for their meetings. Mrs. Bolscn a girls’ track team who will wear tights for a uniform. Mr. Boyd a personal secretary who will answer the phone. Mrs. Cay wood do do do do do do do do do do. Mrs. Cazcl a school that is always in as good of mood as she is. Mr. Deitemyer two students who will behave as well as Tracy and Terry Smith. Mrs. Ellison a rain check for a ski trip to Colorado. To the Sophomores we leave them the ability to gather with Steve at the urinal. To the Freshmen we leave turtlenecks to cover up their red necks. 45 Teresa Reedy, Ed Reedy — 1982 Prom Royalty 49 KRAZY KAMP Junior-Senior Play Eve Hunnicutt............................Tracy Smith Alva Doright............................Trisha Redfern Adam Apple...............................Kenny Franklin Willard.....................................Ed Reedy Theodora Wolfswinkle.....................Karen Stinson Vivian Vandersnap.........................Dawn Patrick Kate Millfloss.............................Amy Walters Hildegard Von Fishbeck........Marylisa Schuetz Officer Dumm...............................Bob Webb Mister Terwilliter........................Troy Phelps Smudge.................................Annette Coslow Linda Biddle.............................Terry Smith Cindy...............................Lisa Dyer Sylvia..................................Teresa Reedy Jenny......................Jackie Fitzgibbons Joe........................Gordon McKinney Larry................................Jay Day Ivan The Terrible.........................Jeff Stovall Elmer Crumb...............................Jeff Stovall Cleopatra Nile............................Jody Stovall Clams Marinara.............................Jim Drone Dixie................................Dee Ellis Doyle.....................................Troy Phelps Mrs. Thistlemist....................Lori Born Gloria............................Teresa Reedy Directed by Mrs. Judy Uphoff 50 Is PLAYGIRL really that funny?
