We weren’t going to let this spoil our reunion, so we decided to take a swim. I was sunbathing, when I felt something tickling my foot. I jumped up and discovered a bottle. I took the cork out of the bottle and there was a Lovington Reporter newspaper inside. I was flipping through the pages and the first name that caught my eye was TONY CROSLOW. who had signed a contract to replace Mr. Allen as the chemistry teacher. I always thought Tony was smart, but I didn’t think anyone could outdo Mr. Allen. On the same page. I saw that KATHY WOOD was in the Guiness Book of World Records for having the world’s longest fingernails. Beside Kathy’s write-up. was a photo of TINA RAMBO who had just come back from the Olympics with her fifth gold medal in the discus. She threw it 200 feet. I turned the next page and I read the local news. LINDA ALUMBAUGH owns a mushroom farm, is raising sheep, and is a part-time librarian at L.H.S. SHEILA BENTON has now become the manager of the Raider Restaurant, better known as the Wheel Inn Cafe’’. As I read on. DENNIS GARMON, better known as “Jap , is still collecting ribbons from California girls. I found that DARLENE ELLIOTT went to Texas and is now J.R. Ewing's executive secretary. CAROL REEDY has now bought Lovington and plans to change the name to Margareedyville , and has started her new business. “Fashions for Tuna Bodies . Designers say they are absolutely breath taking. Along with Carol, there is CARLA CLOUGH who is marketing her own “coat of many colors . Under the headlines of the local news. I read that DANA WALL has now joined the Navy to keep an eye on Greg and all the other waves . TERESA WOLFE also made the local news when she started her own make-up line complete with a base set of freckles and a smile. The whole third page was the gossip column. I read that REESE CLEMENTS recently became the heir of Playboy Productions and is now waiting for his trip to the Bahamas, with all of his bunnies. I read that DONNA KEELING was the new owner of Grace’s Beauty Salon. I was amazed to find out that DAN COCHRAN has invented a new high speed automobile. I had to giggle a minute when I read that MIKE BELL was still trying to complete his high school education after twenty long years of what he called hard work . DEBBIE CAVANAH better known as Cavet has taken up exploring and is now trying to find that rare creek . I read on. HOLLY NEWBERRY and CONNIE GOODWIN were home to dedicate the “Goodwin-Newberry Hiking Trails in Lovington. These trails were made through the years by their constant walking. I also found that BOB RENFRO, after seven overhauls and fifty gallons of Bondo had finally given up on the Nova. I saw a photo of PENNY NICOL. who was jogging, while wearing her spike heels and twirling three batons at the same time. When I turned the page. I noticed the gossip column was continued, but this was nothing new. I remember Lovington was always hot on gossip. As I read on. it said that DONNA COLE was seen up at G and S buying mayonnaise and she had seen PUCK ECKEL stocking up on Farrah Fawcett Shampoo . LANA OZIER was also seen buying lighter fluid so she could keep on flicking her Bic”. Mr. and Mrs. JOHN MARQUIS II of rural Lovington have proudly announced that their son. John III. has successfully completed his state police training, and will now cruise the highways of Illinois. LESA LAWSON and DAN GRIFFIN did get married. I guess she didn’t get tired of all that guff. Also, Sherri and ERIC FITZGIBBONS just had a kid which makes for another cute cookie. Along with the happy events of life, there are always the tragedities. I read that TOM DAWSON and SANDY ELLIS failed to graduate their senior year, so they were forced to take another year at L.H.S.. and they proudly graduated with the Class of 1981. I was astonished to see that TIM PHELPS was recently in the hospital. His letter read: I would like to thank all my friends and relatives for all of the cards and letters that I received while in the hospital. After having major surgery. I finally had my body dyed green. Now I can truly live up to my nickname. The Incredible Hulk”. I saw on the society page that RANDY HAYS and DeeDee are celebrating their 20th anniversary of marriage and their 20th win with ’57 Chevy. Up in the corner of the right page was an ad. It read that DEAN BROWN'S Chauffeur service is highly advertised and recommended by DOUG SMITH. When I turned to the back page my eyes just popped out. I could not believe it. After numerous attempts to tell everyone where he goes every Saturday night. PHIL PARRISH now goes to Sullivan not Sulliban. I finished reading the paper and I looked up and there was a squad of Marines to rescue us from the island, led by BILL MONTGOMERY. 8 Senior We. the members of the Lovington High School Class of 1980, being of sound mind and body, and believing in the certainty of our near departure from the afore said school, do hereby make and declare this instrument of writing to be our last will and testament as seniors and students of Lovington High School. Before, this club was the Lettermens Club, but since ERA has come about, the girls wanted in. So the school formed a new organization called the Varsity Club. To be eligible one must have lettered varsity in a sport, and because of all the “jocks at our school, the club was a pretty good size. Some of the activities were selling candy for the club to buy what we needed. The sales were good and the club was a big success. 88 St udent (Council Front Row: Kenny Franklin. Jody Stovall.
