Junior Class History In the fall of 1954, twenty, green Freshmen crossed the threshold of Lovington High School, We began our year by electing Martha Rainey as president; Shirley Fair, vice-president; Bob McCoy, secretary-treasurer; and Calvan Brosam, reporter. We made history that year by getting second place with our float in the Homecoming Parade and third place with our window. Then, too, Calvin Brosam, our candidate for Homecoming King, was crowned THE KING I Our class sponsors were Mr. Floyd Adair and Mr. Ralph Goodwin. Marcia Bailey was selected to represent us as Cheerleader and Martha Rainey as Student Council representative and they have contin- ued in the same office. Bob McCoy was Freshman Student Council member; Calvin Brosam was Sophomore; and Dean Howard is now our Junior member. During our Sophomore year, our sponsors were Mrs. Elizabeth Pedro and Mrs. Violet Long. Bob McCoy was president; Shirley Rochat, vice-president; Shirley Fair, secretary-treasurer; and Rowena Newberry, reporter. To add to our bank account, we sold candy and had sock hops. Now we are upperclassmen and our sponsors are Mrs. Ella Stephenson and Mr. Lawrence Allen. For our money making projects we have had the respon- sibility of the vending machines and have sold refreshments at some of the games. We had one sock hop. Our class play, The Little Dog Laughed was fun. It was directed by Mrs. Stephenson. Because of the shortage of our number. Four of the girls had double roles. Floyd Woods and Leroy Kearney took care of the scenery and sound effects. Ours was perhaps the last play to be given in the old auditorium and we were proud of our work. Next year . . .
