These were the Seniors of 1'53. This class became full-fledged high school members upon ini- tiation, when the seniors requested that they wear their clothes backward for two days. The second semester' Margaret Kohn joined us from Superior, Evelyn Heard from Formoso, and Verna Miller from Nelson. Marvin Van Meter left. The members of theclass then included Norma Van Meter, Dallas Montgomery, Don Swanson, Marilyn Rogers , Miriamlove- well, Donald Coffman , Dana Owen, Nita 'Imler, Valda Graham, Revs. Joyce Swihart, Evelyn Heard, Verna Hiller, and Margaret Kohn. We presented two one-act plays in which Mr, Evans directed. They were Down In the Heart of Texas in which Willard Mettler helped us out and The Neighbors. We gave the latter at Clay Cen- ter, Kansas. Next year found them one step away from upperclassmen, but still struggling hard. Dana Owen had gone to Superior, Nebraska, and Margaret Kohn to Manhattan. Ralph Isaacson joined ue from Formoso and at Thanksgiving Valda Graham moved to Red Cloud, Nebr. Ah! Nineteen fifty-one and upper classmen, at last. The class members were Marilyn Rogers, Miriam Lovewell, Nonna Van Meter, Verna Miller, Dallas Montgomery, Don Swanson, Ralph Isaacson, Donald Coff- man, and Sylvia Hall, who joined us from Superior, The high-lights of the year were the three-act play, Bandits for Breakfast, and the Junior-Senior Banquet sponsored by Miss Zahm. Nineteen fifty-three and Behold! A The meek freshmen of LQ have become the proud Seniors of 53. 'Ihey are Marilyn Rogers, Verna Miller, Don Swanson, and Donald Coffman, Nome Van Meter left at the semester and Sylvia Hall in March. Mr. Johnson was our sponsor this last year at L. H.
