Without the unfailing work of Mr. Hurst in making our school one of the best, and without the quiet, efficient help of Mrs. LaForge, all this may not have come about while we were students at Loveland. Mr. Hurst Mrs. LaForge Who aided ua thnouqh hiqh achool j Mr. Ogg Many thanks are due to both Mr. Ogg and his very efficient secretary, Mrs. Hill. Both were al- ways available when help was needed with locks for the lockers, books that were lost, schedules that needed to be changed, and a thousand and one other problems. Mrs. Hill We uememben OW! rlunicm High W76 fondly. remember Mr. Mason as one of our favorite junior high teachers and we feel equally proud of his success as head of the new elementary school. Miss Wilson, we will remember for her cheerful smile and willing help when we needed something from the junior high for the work on the annual or the school news- paper. To both of these, we also wish greater success and best wishes. Mr. Mason Miss Wilson a Uhe Counaelinq and the Health Guidance Miss Templin The problems over our schedules, classes, and college plans were settled quickly and satisfactor- ily by Miss Templin. We all felt that she truly was our friend when we talked to her. The measles, the mumps, and other illnesses were always taken care of by Mrs. Bushman. All of us depended upon her. No football team can be better than its coach. Few people would expect any uneoached team to win any games. The same thing applies to any student government. We feel proud of our student govern- ' 111th this year. They have accepted many new responsibilities and have carried them out to the best of their ability. A new constitution was written this year and will be put to the student body for their vote next year. No student council can function well without the help of their advisor. Again this year the group had the capable advice of Mr. Ogg. With his help, our student council became a member of the Ohio Association of Student Councils and the Na- tional Association of Student Councils. We are a member of good standing for the years 1957-1958 and 1958- 1959. We are more than proud of this group. We especially want to give our vote of thanks to all the mem- bers of the group. Without the help of ev- eryone, from the presi- dent down to the last member, it couldnit have been done. Any group following Will halve a big job emulat- ing this council. B. The students who were members of the club cultivated many qualities for becoming a good teacher since they had good in- formation from two very capable advisors. They also did actual teaching when the regular teacher was absent. The organization also visited other schools in the area to watch how teaching was done elsewhere. The 1958 Lohian staff has worked hard to give you these two basic requirements. The yearbook features reports on ac- tivities, academics, anti athletics that the Tigers have participated in during the 1957-58 school year. Many pictures are included. Hurried calls to the photographers, copy written and rewritten, pictures whit- tled down to size, page layouts done, redone, and redoneiall these were a part of getting this hook to final com- pletion. This is a great improvement over pre- vious seasons. The team had some unlucky breaks, some close calls, and they lost some games that could have been won. In spite of this they came through with more wins than losses: Loveland was one of six schools who established the Eastern Hills Athletic League at the beginning of the year. One of the re- sponsibilities of the league is to promote better sportsmanship among all the teams. Many new suggestions and improvements will come from the many meetings which are to be held in the future. Our sportsmanship and good will alwayg follow our team-win or lose. Despite strong indications last year that the team would be improved by the addition of the reserve members, hopes were dashed completely for the basket- ball team. The team won only one game, defeating New Richmond early in the season by the score of 71 to 68. Many of the games were lost by close scores and spectators felt that maybe our team should have won if they had had just that certain something that makes a championship team. Some seniors are graduating, but the greater majority of the boys still remain for next year. Let,s hope that Loveland will be able to break the jinx that seems to hold it down this coming year. A11 remember how the honor guards stood like statues and how the reverent aspect about the entire proceedings inspired us. Below you will find a candid Shot of the group waiting to have the group picture taken. We were quite happy for so early in the morning since we thought the photo- grapher was saying ttWhalesh and we discovered that he was saying 4Cirlsf, We nicknamed him ttHuhha, Hubbaf, since he interspersed all his sentences with these words. We inspect Where George slept. Linda and Al celebrate birthday on boat ride down Potomac River. Paulette, Stella, and Joan found the statue of Iwo Jima inspirational. At the Casino Royal, Chloe Flanary was a good subject for the hypnotist, Arthur Allen. We shall never forget her shouting, HThe British are coming? She and Pat Brown entertained about two hundred students from other schools who were visit- ing there at the same time. The changing of the guard. Vhe tnipa we took After walking miles, the rest at the naval academy was wonderful. Of course the boys liked the planes and the boats. Our dinner at Carvel Hall was entertaining since Linda was served such a huge dessert. Marcellus, the head waiter, told us of his work in a picture about Carvel Hall. How ahqut flying that plane, Wes? Leora seemed to be in a hurry to get to her room when we saw he'r rushing into the hotel lobby. Up steps, down steps, into buildings, out of buildings! After tw0 days of doing this and seeing places, even Bill Rankin looked tired when Leora took this picture of him as he entered the Lin- coln Monument. The day was hot and the water looked so cool but we didnit dare do anything other than take a picture here at the naval academy. r With the water from the squirt guns flying; around so much. we wonder that enough people could he still long enough to take this picture of the group waiting to hoard the train at Union Station.
