UWIGQS The rollrckrng fun lovmg class whrch strrs up more trouble rn school than any oth er two classes comblned IS we must admrt the lunlor Class lt 1S no fault of our home room teachers Mrs Harsha and Mr Steele they Just cant keep an eye on us forty mne puprls at one trme The school year opened wrth a bang up electron whereas the boys prtted therr oratorrcal and mfluentral powers agarnst the grrls A good brt of antagonrsm was rarsed before the electron However the offrcrals teachers got wmd of the happenmgs and quelled any further outbreaks ln the fall the class was outstandrng rn that rt had a complete football team of rts own members frve out of those srx were on the varsrty so that when any cheerrng was done rt was done mostly by lunrors and when any scormg was done rt was agarn mostly the lunrors The basketball floor also felt the patter of the shoes of luntors durrng the season The boys trred hard tn the frrst half but as the last two quarters came around our pornts Just wouldn t add up Thrs procedure became surprrsmgly consrstent the Jrntc couldnt be broken Smce the grrls were not permrtted to partrcrpate rn mterscholastrc competrtron those of the Iumor class drd as much work selhng candy as they probably would on the basketball floor Mrs Harsha took over the candy sales rn a frrendly competrtrve man ner wrth Mr Steele and hrs pop sellrng At the turn of sprrng the class became aware of the fact that only a few months stood between them and the date of the Semor Prom Somethrng had to be done Our class prestdent put forth the plan of hrrrng an orchestra for a brg dance lt was welcomed heartrly everyone was eager to do hrs part A dance commrttee was chosen to take care of advertrsrng and trcket sellrng The one great questron mark 1n our path of progress was the task of choosrng an orches tra not only choosmg one but gettrng one to perform on the date chosen Then when Aprrl lO came around everyone was worrred about the returns from the trckets Our whole years work hrnged upon the dance but the profrt surprrsed everyone the class was at ease our rnvest ments almost doubled The frrst few practrces of baseball brought forth the old hands from the lunror class even our enthusrastrc baseball player Mr Steele who loves to watch and ta4e part rn all sports Could that be why thrs class rs al ways on the move thrs year? We are sorry to lose Mr Steele thrs year he rs 1n the servrce of Uncle Sam But we are also proud too that we have a real soldrer rn our class now Besrdes havmg therr foot rn athletrcs they had a hand also rn the classrcs Mem bers of the class who took part rn A Cappella and Mrss Beavers other vocal courses re turned vrctonous from the contests held at Oxford Throughout the year Mr Craggs kept th band and orchestra on a footrng equal to any rn thrs area Agam the musrcal mmded folk of grade eleven shone forth therr beams down the grzdrron rn the wmter frllmg the gym wrth strrrmg notes of Cheer Cheer for Old Loveland Hrgh For a class havmg such an extensrve rn terest rn extra currrcular actrvrtres rt seems hardly possrble that rt had a very good schol astrc standrng If one could Just see the sta trstrcs whrch returned from the competrtrve scholastrc tests he would utter amazed that wonders wrll never cease or that there was a mrstake As the date May 22nd came around on the calendar the class that 15 each member was as busy as frve or srx swarms of bees prepar mg the great banquet and prom to follow That 1 to say nothmg of what Mrs Harsha and Mr Steele were accompllshrng When the great nlght arrrveo everythrng was su perb and all formalrtres were completed Wllh the greatest frnesse thus puttmg anoth r feather Jn the hat of the class of 43 THE LOHIAN COMMEMOR ING OUR NEW SCHOOL BUILDING Page 18 9 ' - . , f 1 1 J I ' , , ,, - H 1 I ll I Il . l V I . , Q .
