Enjoying warm weather up until December was a rarity for Scandinavia-native Tore Bjornoy. Foreign Students Add Flavor Going to live in a foreign country in- volved learning a new language, meet- ing new people, and sometimes adapt- ing a whole new way of life. Although the United States was not foreign to us, it was, however, to those who came to visit from abroad. The six visitors to L.H.S. were juniors Candy Tsoa-Lee and Maria Mejia, from Australia and El Salvador, along with seniors Saied Naaseh-Shahry, Anders Ostgren, Tore Bjornoy, and Amador Medina, from Iran , Sweden, Norway, and Venezuala respectively. Tore liked Colorado for the skiing and spent many hours on the slopes. Al- though Candy occasionaly got a little homesick, all seemed to enjoy their stay. Candy Tsoa-Lee relates to the students of Loveland High School like she'd been born and raised here.

Festival Enhances Pla A trumpet trio, fencers, wrestlers, musicians, madrigals, actors, and animals were all part of the fall play, Shakespear's The Taming of the Shrew . It began as a fifty-five minute pro- duction, and through the imagina- tion and direction of Ms. Marilee Saxe, and technical director Ms. Mary Scobey, it emerged into a Shakespearian festival. Student participation played a big part in the success of The Taming of the Shrew . Many students not involved in theatre before devoted much time and effort to the produc- tion in many areas such as painting a floor tarp, fencing, wrestling, sing- ing, playing instruments, sewing cos- tumes, and action. The set consisted of a painted floor tarp with a bright sun smiling at the players who jousted around it. The players gained experience by per- forming in the round, while the audi- ences were able to freely enjoy Shakespear's talents effectively. The richly done costumes were the finest attraction, with a Shakespearian look adding much to the spirit of the production. A fencing match, a fight between Kate fMary Andersonj and between Kate fMary Andersonj and Petruchio Uim Busbyj, a wrestling match, a fight between Grumio CJ on Sheetsj and Petruchio Uim Busbyj, a dance, a love scene featuring Lu- centio QRick Buggj and Bianca QLaurie Larkinj, and chickens and dogs roaming around kept the audi- ence alert. Through preparation, re- hearsal, and finishing touches, the cast strived to make The Taming of the Shrew a success in entertain- ment. With their efforts, they hap- pily reigned as a success for three nights.
