Emotions Characterize First Da From Bottomg Kim Nunn, Cindy Thomson, and Starla Engclharte learn the ups and downs of office work. Excitement, apprehension, fear, and apathy. It all came together on the first day of school. The year began as many first days, consisting of sophomores searching for unknown destinations, and seniors feeling superior because they were finally at the top. On August 28 it seemed chaos reigned. Unorganized locker checkout left many students without a locker, and over 140 unexpected new students left the administration swamped. Despite the confusion, most sophomores arrived at their assigned classes without much mishap. Although there will always be first days, they'll never change. The thrill, monotony, and anxiety that characterizes the first day of school will forever be. rsss ' siwt ' 'is fir. p 9 We ve Got Spirit Sure We Do Spirit week started out quietly and it grew to a climax at the traditional bon- fire. Class colors day, an ice cream so- cial, and red and black day were all a part of spirit week. The class colors day started off the week with the sophomores wearing pink, juniors wearing green, and the seniors wearing blue. Next came the bonfire, which had been planted with sparklers and fire crackers, to add something extra to the excitement. The roaring flames kept all the fans' bodies warm. Topping off the evening was the movie, Little Big Man , which was within the theme of the Old West . The ice cream social offered all the hungry fans choices of strawberry cheesecake, butter pecan, chocolate chip mint and bubblegum ice cream. This year the social went from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., instead of the usual all day sale. Both of these activities were spon- sored by the Student Council. After it was all said and done, the stu- dent body agreed that it was one of the most funfilled spirit weeks in a long time. g , . ., 2.
