Carrying' on the traditionally line work of the Student Council, this year's student governing' board contributed several worthwhile featurcs t.o thc yearly program. To start the school term oil, an all student picnic and dancc was hold at Lake- side Park to highlight get-acquainted week. Next the Student Council conceived and incubated the idca for a homecoming day. That the hatching was a complete success can be determined by referring to pages lo and 11. Not to be outdone by schools observing 'tSadic' Hawkins day, l,. H. S. was sub- jected to a Twirp Season. During this week, November 231-Ill, the girls dated up the boys and delved into their own billfolds for the expenses. In addition to the above, the student council planned a program of assemblies and took charge of ticket sales for the t'National Assemblies Program. Herman Hovde, sponsor, Don Myer, Bill Clemmer, Elwin Mau- er, Lindy Leifheit, Bob Wilcox, Betty Booton, Ma1'y Griffing, Bet- ty Flider, Jean Rogers, Leurettn. The choir received a superior rating: with a very fine interpretation on each number, excellent intonation throughout, no complaint as to accuracy, notes, time values, or dynamics. The feeling of flow- ing lilies was felt by singers, and there was a good naturalness in blend. Make Me Neue The Loveland Indians finished a rather rocky Season with four wins and nine losses. One of the most up and down teams in the league, the Indians won three games While losing seven. The team started the season very dlsmally by dropping their opener to Denver, 19 to 36. However, they turned around and played them a close game the following night, but were finally nosed out, 130 to 31. In their final non-league game, the Indians iiiungped the College High Bulldogs, 32 to 30, for their rs win. For thfir league opener, they surprised everyone by upsetting the Longmont Trojans, 31 to 29. Then in 3 Complete reversal of form they went to Fort Collins the next week and were trounced, 35 to 23. Playing again on their heme court, the Indians easily disposed of the Englewood Pirates, 41 to 23. The mighty lloulder Panthers came to town. and laced the locals 51 to 30 the follow- ing week. Lovelangl again pulled the unexpected when they almost upset Greeley, but were fnally edged out, 319 to 41. In the second round, the indians dropped a game to Longmont, 27 to 34. The biggest upset of the year was the 34 to 31 conquest of Fort Collins, which was the first time Loveland had beaten them for several years. Then the team traveled to Englewood and were in turn upset by the previously winless Pirates, 48 to 332. The trip to Boulder proved just as fruitless and the Indians were massacred, 49 to 18. Closing the season, the Loveland squad dropped a 38 to 53 decision to the Greeley Wildcats. The big highlight of the season was of course the win over Fort Collins. followed hy the win over Longmont. I.oveland beat everyone in the league but the co-champions, Boulder and Greeley, and nearly turned the trick on the latter. However, they failed to heat the same team twice, which proved costly in thc second round. The flu crippled the team in their last three appear- axfces which accounted in part for the slump. 7am Melvin Hogan- Scnior- liuard. Next, the Indians jouined to Longmont for a tri- angular meet with the 'I'ro.gans and the Pan- therg oi' Boulder. Loveland was the pickle in the middle with Longmont the mustard on top. Third meet. of the season was the C. U. relays in which the mile relay team placed first. The following week the Indians placed thirml in the heavyweight division and sec- ond in the lig'htweif.fht division at the Colo- iado A QQ M invitational. Bob Dean gar- nered most points of the day with 223 scored In lightweight competition. The following Saturday Loveland was host to the Northern League In this meet the Indians placed third. Finale for track, '47, came with the state mcet at C. U. Again the mile relay team ot' Gingery, Gentry, Reed anal Gates came in for top honors. Dunning did his best job of high jumping for the season to place third with a jump of six feet. These two places accounted for l.oveland's eight points.
