The senior boys come up with the idea of “In The Air Tonight.” The big week began on Monday with ironical day. That night the bonfire was followed by a truck ride and a snake dance down mainstreet. Tuesday was hat, tie and sunglasses day followed by a freshmen pep rally. Wednesday was flood and hairstyle day with the sophomores giving the skit. Thursday was career day. Bag ladies, doctors, priests, sisters and park rangers participated. The seniors ended the day with an all school pep rally. Friday was blue and white day. Spirit mounted throughout the day leading to the big game that night. The outrageous Knights came out on top with the score of 14-6. The action returned to the school where the coronation took place. Tom Gude and Kristie Heng were crowned king and queen. The dance followed the coronation, and on October 17, 1981, victory was “IN THE AIR TONIGHT.” Cecilia Smith started the week of “Spirit' by dressing up ironically. It revolves around the love of Julie Jordcn (Cecilia Smith), a shy, naive local girl, for the handsome and carefree carnival barker, Billy Bigalow (Wayne Kreifels). Everyone is against their marriage. The townspeople caution Julie, and Billy is fired by the owner of the carousel, Mrs. Mullin (Donna Davis), who is jealously in love with him. At the same time, Julie’s best friend, Carrie Pipperidge (Carol Griepenstroh) is planning her own wedding to the arrogant and proper Mr. Snow (Kevin Rettig). She is astonished when he reveals to her his ambitions to get rich, building up a fleet of fishing boats and a fleet of children year by year. Their plans for marriage are almost wrecked by Billy’s shiftless sailor friend Jigger (Matt Heng). Jigger tries to convince Carrie, “There’s nothing so bad for a woman as a man who thinks he’s good.” Jigger and Billy attempt to rob Mr. Basconbe, (Kevin Fey) the rich millowner. They get caught in the act and Jigger escapes while Billy stabs himself, leaving Julie alone to raise their child. Julie is taken in by her cousin Nettie (Chris Sporrer), while Billy is taken to heaven by a heavenly friend (Capri Fenton) and interviewed by a starkeeper (Doug Marfice). The starkeeper allows Billy to go back home for a day, and do something good for his daughter, Louise (Joanie Eickhoff). She is about to graduate but is tormented by the kids at school, especially Enoch Snow Jr. (Mark Durr) who is the eldest of Snow’s nine kids. At graduation Billy helps Louise and Julie by telling them that he loved them and that they will never walk alone. 60 (Upper Left) That’ exactly how It’d be if I loved you.” Wayne «in , to Cecilia. This year, on the Friday night performance, high winds broke a power pole in half outside of school and the lights went out. After a short delay, the show went on by candlelight; making a setting which made a very beautiful ending to a very successful play. These pages can’t even begin to show all of the excitement, joy. and work that went into Carousel! But hidden behind the scenes are many parents, boosters, and students, who donated time and energy for the building of props, making the costumes, and arranging the reception. There is one special group that always goes unnoticed — the stage crew. They faithfully brought out the props and scenery, and had many good times like watching the bails of straw collapsing and eating the missing ice cream. Many thanks to these unnoticed people - Rick Bussard, Brian Stanley. Cherie Schreiner. Leslie Rakes, Dave Ramold, Dave Kuhlman, DeRoy Ilarshman. and Karen Heng. 64 Lourdes Wins 42-0 The Drought Is Over! Congratulations to the boys on a fine season. It has been a long time since we have had a chance to be “in” every game. The defense that was shown was tough and very talented, as was the offense.
