In the world, we saw ever-higher gasoline prices, floods of southeast Asian refugees, and Americans held hostage in Iran. Closer to home we met with prices that hindered our lifestyle, with disappointments and defeats both at home and in school. But. in spite of the trying times, the love and unity of our school community have greatly helped us look enthusiastically towards the future. n SENIORS 5 Top to bottom. L to R: Laurie. A special Mass was celebrated in compliance with Palm Sunday for the cast of the musical and their friends. Celebrating the musi- cal with a Mass was, as Fr. Barr put it, an appropriate way to begin the real drama of Holy Week. This Mass was only one of the special ways dur- ing the year that the faculty and students of Lourdes sought to make God live in our Lourdes community. Laurie Almgren and Sally Durand march in the pro- cession after receiving their palm branches. Barb O’Neill receiving Communion from Fr. Barr, who celebrated the Mass. 48 Song leaders Sr. Joanna Ward and Jody Bussard are accompanied in the procession by Janet Riege. As part of the life of Lourdes, students regular- ly participate in the celebration of the Eucha- rist. These celebrations vary from the ordi- nary” Friday Masses at St. Mary’s to occasional special” ones in the school gym. This year the juniors celebrated the anniversary of their classmate Danny Pfeiffer, while the sopho- mores had both the Christmas and the Ash Wednesday celebrations. The freshmen planned the special Mass for the bishop's visit. The seniors directed their last Mass of the year, which was held down by the grotto. ROYALTY REIGNS OVER VICTORY The homecoming game between the Lourdes Knights and Falls City Sacred Fleart took place on November 1 Perhaps inspired by the half-time royalty, the Knights played their way to a decisive win. 14 to 6. The game itself was preceded by a week of spirit- filled activities during school, and it was followed by the traditional bonfire and truck ride.
