As 1975 marks the end of our high school years, we, the Seniors of the Class of 1975, will bp able to exper- ience separate new dawns in contrast to those we have experienced here at Lourdes in a common class unity. Separate new hopes and dreams will have to be fulfilled as we branch out into new careers and life- styles. The high school experience has been rewarding. We look fondly on the dawns of the four past years, and anticipate with an eager readiness each new dawn that will create each new day of the rest of our lives. The Freshman decided to begin where they started and to end, well, thats anothei story! Anyway, here we have the Freshman who are all those young people who have made a major decision in the beginning of their High School Education.... John Kempkes Tom Eiserman Joe Durr ... They've chosen Lourdes. Not only is it an honor for them to be here, but they make Lourdes more of what it is. A school with high characteristics, its own style, its own way of life. From the Senior Class of '75 to the Freshman Class of '78, we wish you the best of luck during your High School days. A LOOK AT THE Mark is secretly devising up a formula which will blow up the school! Marcy and Kathie enjoy cooking in home ec, but the best part comes when they get to eat the re- sults! Norbert watch out! He might catch you! Scott shows some amazing carpentry technique in shop. 25 Don't cry Kent. The other boys seem to think that the food is o.k.. Ah, the distinguished artist - so stunning, so magnificent, so noble! Mass plays an important role in the lives of the students and faculty of Lourdes. It is celebrated often and whole-heartedly during the school year. Ah, the disestablishmentariest - so outrageous, so horrifying, so wierd! Father Brombach celebrates the Eucharist. Stir it up gang! 27 As Jane shows us, our health is an important factor to being good students. Could it be that Don has discovered a new chemistry principle ? Shake yourselves awake gang! When Irish eyes are smilin'. . . 28 r To best describe Retreat here are sev- eral thoughts from the seniors' Retreat Journal : Life is a complicated object we must continually question, and play around with. There is a triangle between my- self, my community, and God; the more I understand one, the more I understand the other two. One great thing I feel in our retreat is acceptance. We are not a conforming class. No one is going to change their life for anybody. But I feel an acceptance and tolerance for each other. I like that. Celebrating the Eucharist was an especially nice way to climax the hap- penings of each Retreat day. Class unity was sometimes overwhelming at Retreat! Another one of those rap and relax sessions where we grew to know ourselves and each other a little better. 30 Norbert contemplates on whether to join in a senior toast. Most of us were changed for the better at Retreat. Vicki just never learns though. Our Retreat is over, but will never be forgotten. The only thing I regret is that we had so little time together. We shar- ed a good part of ourselves with each other, and we reached out to one an- other. What we gained there is some- thing that we can never lose, and com- pletely priceless. Who could have asked for more ? Now that Retreat is over I have found that I love our class, and I have learned so much about people that I never though existed in them. . . . THANK YOU GOD! 31 David plays keep away with the football. Freshmen Initiation The Seniors explain the basic concepts of Freshmen Initiation Blind Man's Bluff.. .on the floor? These Freshmen boys, here, seem to be very affectionate 33 The Freshman get something worse than hot lunch! ! A pie in the Mark ate it ALL up! face! The Freshman enjoyed Initiation almost as much as the Seniors. It started out with the traditional singing of the school song, then a few embarrass- ing games and ended with the spat line which everyone enjoyed. . .Well, almost everyone! 34 Homecoming 1974 King Kurt Schrieter Royalty-Dennis Krog Queen Vicki Heng Marcy Navrkal Homecoming-1974 One of those spe- cial events of the school year. The 1974-1975 Speech Team proved, as did past speech teams, an ability to put forth a successful year, The team won both the Galaxy and Southeast Border speech meets, and placed high at the District speech meet. The highlights of the year came when the Duet Acting event placed third, and the One- Act Play placed in the top six in state competition. Kelly shows a sign of relief after receiv- ing superior in oral interpretation of poetry. Kelly Hartley, Mary Kempkes, and Reader's Theatre participants also performed at the State speech meet. Reader's Theatre participants perform their selected excerpt from Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee . It centered around a young boy character, played by Don Wirth, was caught between the real and imagin- ary world. Don won superior actor in three speech meets for his performance in the role. Senior Skip Day Boy's Town was one of the many places we went on Skip Day. Skip Day was one of the many projects we did together as a class. SB The offense of Lourdes was entirely new this year. Starting with pre-game time to on-the-field, The triple option veer was used with great results, and the pow- er dives and passes sprang us loose in many tight plays. Through these plays we were able to beat F.C.S.H. for the first time in 5 years. 59 Then the linebackers took over and plugged and sealed any holes that appeared. When the opposing teams found out they couldn't run on us, they passed and our secondary took over. The KNIGHTS' defense stopped their opponents cold from the first of the year. The front four contained and bore the weight of the front line. The year is over with a season of 5-2-2, and the ALL-CON- FERENCE players were named. But, what of next year?? The people who stood on the sideline will make up the teams for '75, '76 and '77. With the '74 season a winning one, we know our '75 season will be off to a good start with the strength of the Juniors and Sophomores. STATS NCL 25 Weeping W. 0 NCL 6 Palmyra 20 NCL 0 J. The Seniors, this year, had the privilege of performing the Rock Opera Godspell for the Lourdes student body. With just three days to prepare, lines had to be memorized, music had to be learned, and costumes and props had to be designated. Norbert contemplates on the riddle proposed by Don. The Crucifixion in a modem mode. In the end, the production proved to be a fitting and overwhelming display of hard work and determination by all the Seniors and the two directors.
