Our Future Rembrandts 34 Homecoming 1971 Homecoming proved to be a memorable event. The classes followed the theme of The Roaring Twenties by decorating their rooms from Barber Shops to Gang- ster Hideouts. The Bonfire was a sight to behold. The Juniors did a fine job of presenting a skit and a hilar- ious wheel-barrow race up mainstreet. Homecoming festivities were brightened by an 8-7 victory over Sterling. The evening was climaxed by the tradi- tional coronation and dance. The winners. You wan'na drag? Joe Nocita, Oh No! 36 37 38 Freshmen Initiation Randy inches ahead!! Is this the T .J . we know? The Tunnel of Love At least Hot Lunch gives us a spoon. raw mmm good! 40 41 Some participated-some watched. Duh, you guys just wait! Dan gets his revenge. Joe, how's the ice? Mike, not too nice. Sr. Rudina asks Mary what's next. I thought we had a FEW boys in the Pep Band? Karen and Mary make us suffer! OUR BAND! Jeff shows his drum who's boss! The band shows its stuff at Homecoming half-time. Karen gave the signal this year. 44 Mrs. Ryder clowns around! Mrs. Lance takes a break- The brass section pours it on. The Arbor Day uphill trudge. Dan the Man gave our Pep Band some class! 45 T. J. likes opening BIG presents. Mary Ann played the part of Betty Crocker. Bob is our American Legion Orator. The Speech Team won TOP honors this year and brought home 3 trophies. All contestants received a Superior rating at least once. A big thanks to Sister Carolyn Marie. 46 Speech Team taking it easy. Tim J. finally decided on a face lift. The Boston Strangler strikes again. 47 N. U. ROTC Model the new Lourdes pep club uniforms. 48 The play received a superior rating. Charlie has a camera for security. Mary Sue won the Miss Otoe County Scholarship. Musical chairs anyone? 49 Eat 'em up boys! The last breakfast. Boy and Girl staters. Gary and Dan put their heads together and tried a little sports editing. Student Council Dating Game. With Mr. Ivan Beau- mont as guest M. C. and Jeff Kinney as guest speaker. The night was quite an experience. The evening was off to a great start with a great meal. The evening ended with a great movie Featuring the Big Red football team and questions and answers by Jeff Kinney. The evening was enjoyed by all. Jeff Kinney-guest speaker. The girls display a little of the good ol' home ec etiquette. 52 Mary Sue won the K. of C. scholarship and Tom was the outstanding student. Jeff cracks a funny. Mary Ulbrick and Bill Olmer received honors too. Senior Skip Day Timmy's transportation gets more mileage. The guys hijacked a choo-choo train. See Billy bowl. It was a year of strong defenses, tight games, and injuries. With its sides so flat and its face so drawn, Oh where oh where could it be? Joe gives a little Power to the people. Another event won for the Knights. Jim is still out there jumping those sticks. 75 76 Senior Retreat On November 7, 1971, the Senior Class left for a very memorable three days. With Fr. Mel Rempe as the bus driver and Sr. Mary Rudina as his advisor, the class traveled to the Retreat house at Waverly. The first stop was in Lincoln for supper at Kings. At the Retreat house, they were greeted by Father Ritter. With Father Martin, they investi- gated many phases through films, books, music, and group discussions. The highlight was a beautiful mass in the chapel, in which all seemed to find themselves and God. Retreat ended Tuesday morning, November 9, and the afternoon was spent in Lincoln. The evening ended with a marvelous dinner at Tony Luigi's. It was one of the most memorable events of the year. 78 79 GRADUATING CLASS OF NINETEEN HUNDRED AND SEVENTY TWO Tim J.
