SECOND ROW: James Brown, Nancy Johnson, Beverly Edwards, Bob Kahland, James Voigtman. BACK ROW: Mrs. Suzanne Pankonin, teacher. 661.555 .Jglijforg In September of 1949, Mrs. Elwood Pankonin had the pleasure of teaching Mary Biggs, Joyce Barnes, James Brown, Kathy Campbell, Beverly Edwards, Jeanine Habel, Bob 'Kahland, Jean Knutson, Judy Jones, Sybil Saltmarsh and Jim Voigtman in sandpile. Nancy Johnson joined the class during the second semester. We all managed to pass. We advanced through first grade with Mrs. Funke as our teacher. Jerry Moffitt joined us in the other part of the building with Mrs. Ross as our teacher in the second grade. This year we lost Judy Jones, Kathy Campbell and Jean Knutson. By our third grade year we were too much for one teacher. We were split with Mrs. Funke having the larger part, and some joined the fourth grades under Miss Niday. We added Robert Bowdish, Linda Bond, Elaine Heard, Shirley Goodman, and Steve Gwen. At the end of the year Linda Bond, and Elaine Heard left us. Mrs. Hackel took over the job of teaching our class in our fourth grade year, We added to our group Terry Meisinger, Janice Kobler, Genivieve Hampton and Charolettle Kusick. How- ever, by the end of the year, Janice Kobler, Genivieve Hampton, Charolettle Kusiek, Robert Bowdish and Shirley Goodman left. But Mrs. Hackel stayed on to teach our class in the fifth grade also. Our class grew with the addition of Larry Read, Georgia Shuman, Tom Towles, Loyd Gray and Bob Sutton. But Bob left us at the end of the year. After two years as being our teacher, Mrs. Hackel had had enough, and Mrs. Haney took over our calss in the sixth grade. Mike Luttig and Bleine Heard joined us, but Steven Hay and Georgia Shuman left. Mr. Graham was our seventh grade teacher. Judy Dobbs joined us, but Larry Read and Mike Luttig left. We finally made it to our eighth grade gradu- ation, with Mrs. Koop as our teacher. Beverly Edwards and Steve Gwen left us. We started our high school Career with the addition of Gerry Ault, Kathy Campbell, Darrell Derby, Francis Graham, Raymond Groves, Jean Knutson, Janice Kobler, Judy Miner, and Oran Satterfield. Gary Reed joined our class at the beginning of the second semester. Raymond Groves left us during the year. At the begining of our sophomore year our class had grown to twenty eight with the addition of Bessie Reed, Jim Reed, Margaret Payne, and Fred Groce. However, Gary Reed left at the end of the first semester. Bessie Reed, Jim Reed, and Fred Croce also left during the year. Judy Dobbs and Elaine Heard got married at the end of the year so did not return to school. Neither did Margaret Payne, Janice Kobler, Judy Miner nor Oran Satterfield. As juniors we produced the class play Low and Behold with Mrs. Ruth Leadabroad as our director. This turned out to be good fun as well as good financial aid. We attended County Govern- ment Day. We also gave the best Prom given in Louisville. The theme was Oriental Gardens. Jim Voigtman quit school in the middle of the second semester and got married. As seniors, we have had a full year of activities. The class presented Me and My Shadow as our class play, Miss Carol Skillen was our director. We produced the usual Yearbook, with Mrs. Selma Mulnix as our faculty advisor. Our sneak day was spent in Kansas City, with our sponsors Mr. Donald Tiejten and Mr. Jack Welch. The Juniors gave us a lovely banquet and Prom. Now our high school days come to an end. What a wonderful and rewarding journey it has been. Nine of us, who started back there in Kindergarten with. Mrs. Suzanne Pankonin in the fall of l949, are graduating here together. Cyan We, the Senior Class ofNineteen Sixty-two,of Louisville High School, Louisville, Nebraska, do make, publish, and declare this, our last will and testament. I, Gerald Ault, will my ability to keep from getting stuck to Bob Sutton. I, Joyce Barnes, will my ability to avoid skunks to Joyce Campbell. I, Mary Biggs, will my ability to crack a smile to Karmond Jardine. I, James Brown, will my ability to play fullback to Wayne Spooner. I, Kathy Campbell, will my height to Alice Snodgrass. I, Darrell Derby, will my red hair to Barbara Arends. I, Francis Graham, will my ability to pole vault to Linda Gauer. I, Lloyd Gray, will my ability to play basketball to Jerry Hutchison. I, Jeanine Habel, will my ability to get straight A's to Kathy Rumph. I, Nancy Johnson, will my ability to take someone to Springfield to Mary Franke. I, Bob Kahland, will my ability to remove his teeth to John Ossenkop. I, Jean Knutson, will my ability to hem short skirts to Marilyn Peck. I, Terry Meisinger, will my ability to keep from wrecking a car to Wayne Reed. I, Jerry Moffitt, will my ability to sing to Gail Duerr. I, Tom Powles, will my ability to drop a bowling ball to Rose Conley. I, Larry Read, will my ability to drive to Peggy Wheeler. I, Sybil Saltmarsh, will my ability to play volleyball to Judy Stohlmann. In testimony whereof we have set our hands to this our Last Will and Testament at Louisville, Nebraska, this eighteenth day of May, in the year of our Lord, Nineteen-hundred Sixty-two. Class of 1962 Cfdzfif pI 0,9A2Cg As I was sitting in my hotel suite at the Waldorf Astoria, and just finished counting my thirteenth billion, I looked up at the calendar and saw it was May 18th. Yes sir! May 18th, 1987. Twenty-five years ago today since I marched down the aisle at Louisville High for that long awaited diploma. Twenty-five years! I wonder just what became of the members of that class of 1962. I decided right then to go back to the old home town, so I called my Chauffeur, Loyd Cray to crank up the Old Model T and we would take a spin out that way. As we were nearing Chicago Heights I saw a sign saying Fine Food at Sybil's Kitchen. Could it be our Sybil. We pulled up at the front door and went ing sure enough, there was Sybil Saltmarsh behind the counter and husband Cerry Ault, at the cash register. They had been running the place for the last ten years. We finally drove into Louisville and drove up to the Louisville Pharmacy. Now who do you suppose owns that? My old friend Bob Kahland. Nothing prevailed but I had to spend the night at his house so he phoned Joyce to tell her, I would be there. After a delicious supper served by none other than Jean Ann Knutson, who should drop in but the towns most eligible old bachelor, Larry Read. He owns a fine Super Market out by the highway. I wish you had been here yesterday, Bob said, Kathy Campbell and Mary Biggs rode down from Lincoln with Mrs. Mulnix to spend the day. They have charge of the Sisters of Mercy Nursing Home! Mrs, Mulnix, is she still teaching here? I asked. Oh yes, she is still teaching Math and has charge of the Annual. My oldest son Barnes graduated this year and was her Editor. Jeanine Habel is her assistant Math teacher, and Nancy Johnson, is principal. Who do you suppose is Ernie's assistant. That fine basketball player, Jerry Moffett. Well, well, you remember that night we graduated, Ipromised to send Mrs. Mulnix the Class Prophecy. You know, I never did send her that prophecy. Now Darrell Derby, he just retired as the world's heavyweight boxing champion. Terry Meisinger was his trainer. Tom Powels is the owner of the Trans-continental Truck Lines. As we went to church on Sunday morning, were we ever surprised to hear that great missionary who had just returned from Zanzibar, Francis Crahamg did he ever lay them in the aisles. I was so touched I put a whole dollar in the collection plate. It's time that I am getting back to my hotel suite, and start counting on my fourteenth billion. How did I make my fortune? Oil of course, peanut oil. Well, Goodbye Bob. So long Jim. 0l'Yll'l'l2l'lCel'Ylel'lf W 18, 1962 Jerry, Jean Ann, James Larry, Kathleen, Francis Gerald, Sybil, Terry Loyd, Jeanine, Darrell Mr. Bender, Mr. Whitney, Rev.
