Born March 22, 1911 Died January 2, 1956 After serving as Supt. of Louisville Schools from July 1, 1955 until his death. Seniwt Cfaaa, 9642s In 1944, a small group of bright-faced pupils came trudging along bravely to school holding on to their Mothers hands. This was our first day of our long journey of education. Mrs. Fleishman greeted us with a smile and put us a little more at ease. Connie Woolhiser left us after three short weeks. In our second year, our class decreased with the loss of Mary Jo Reihart. Miss Esther Wittig helped pull us through this second year so when spring came along we would all be third graders. Our next two years sailed along under the capable hands of Mrs. Helen Brunson. In the third grade we had an increase of four in our class population. Neoma Compton, Ed Conley, Vincil Shrader, and Patty Linwell joined us. In the fourth grade we had a very trying year which made some of us almost heartsick. Someone felt that some of us little darlings started to school too young, so some of us were put back a grade. We also had three losses due to moving, which were Ruth Jones, Neoma Compton, and Patty Lin- well. Our one and only gain this year was Richard Wheeler. The fifth year wasa very smooth-running year under Mrs. Funke, a very good but strict teacher. CHuh ! James Heard.J Mary Jo Reihart, Raymond Turner, Deloris Weimer, Frances Isaac, Richard Bates, and Bob Crandal joined us this year. Vincil Shrader moved and Richard Bates, and Bob Crandal left again. In the sixth year, our sweet, but mischievous group was too much of a burden for one teacher, so naturally we were separated. We were very hurt over this. fSome of us even cried. Remernberlj Mary Jo Reihart. Jackie McKinstry, Kathryn Nessen, Shirley Nath, Frances Isaac, and Gary Welton were put in the fifth grade room with Miss Crystal Payne as their teacher. James Heard, Carolyn Hendrix, Ruth Jones, Bar- bara Brown, Patty Voigtman, Jeannette Schoeppner, Glenn Eager, and Jerry Gray were put in the seventh grade room with Mr. Neil Lancaster as their teacher. In the seventh grade we were together again and our teacher was Miss Cope. Bill Workman and Carole King joined our class. Inour eighth and final year of grade school we started the task of trudging up stairs to see the welcoming face of our teacher, Mrs. Faust. Carol King left us, but she was replaced by Carol Heard. We had adiffer- ent teacher during the Second semester. Mrs. Irene Albert took on the task of helping us through school so that we could all get our eighth grade diplomas. Eddie Conley, Donna Cooper, Virgil Graham, Joel Heim, Bing Kobler, Evelyn Love, Duane Arends, Norman Baker, Betty Rothanzl, Janet Schroder, Vincil Shrader, and Shirley Smith raised the total of our freshman class to twenty-nine. They say that our initiation wasn't very rough, but believe us, it was. In the middle of the year Joe Sterling also joined us. Our sophomore class was reduced for Donna Cooper and Deloris Weimer moved away. Evelyn Love also left us. In our Junior year Evelyn Love joined us again. Betty Rothanzl, Janet Schroeder, Vincil Shrader, and Patty Voigtman left us during this year. We started out our final year of our long education with the loss of Carol Eager and Shirley Smith. Dur- ing our senior year some other members of our congenial and charming class left us also. These members were Barbara Brown, Jackie McKinstry, and Joe Sterling. Now as seniors we will always remember our good ole high school days and all the fun we had. CEven the speeches we often received.J We wish the next senior class of L. H. S. all the fun and happy moments that we have had as seniors. Seniors of '56 Szniwt A, Hlfwfphecg In a recent survey we see the following accomplishments of the educated Seniors of 1956. There are always those people who say that they wish that school was over: but it seems that some of the gang liked it quite well -- they continued to train the brain a little more. ,iff if Duane Arenus is teaching school at Oxford University and tutoring a bus in his spare time. Milford Trade School has gained a real mechanic -- Eugene Kobler. Bing is head instructor at the School of Mechanics. Jeannette Knight fNee Jeannette Schoeppnerj is taking care of her wee onesg but in her spare time, she is teaching nursery school. Gary Leroy Welton has continued with his love in athletics and is an eligible bachelor at Wayne State -- good football team Gary. Bill Workman and Bernice are in Lincoln. Bill is assisting Pete Elliot. Norman Baker, in his hot rod convertible, is being educated at one of Southern California's colleges. Calling Dr. Killdare -- Mayo Clinic has gained a surgical supervisor by name of Carol Heard. Her assistant is Evelyn Love who is now running a patient down in the halls of the hospital. Go west young man, go west! ! Forest Ranger Jim Heard did so in the Red Woods of Northern Cali- fornia -- starting fires. Stetson and accessories plus lassoing seems to be getting Joel Heim his girl on the plains of Montana. Dot, dot, dash -- S. O. S. is the signal given by Admiral Virgil Graham somewhere in the Pacific. Down in New Mexico, Carol Robbins is preparing hot tamales in her tortilla restaurant. Eastward bound --Mary Io Reihart is in the windy city designing and modeling her new spring fashions. Cieros in New York is now featuring Carolyn Hendrix famous for her bubble dancing. The Harlem Globe Trotters has obtained a new comic attraction -- Baldy Eager. The more adventurous -- Fran Isaac is now boarding the supersonic constellation for Germany to meet Don after three LONG years. The ever lovin' home type -- Eddie Conley is still faithful to his mink. He now has a mink farm of his own and doing quite well for himself. Jerry Gray has followed the family tradition -- he has been seen hanging up diapers before going off to work at the cement plant. Last but not least -- Kathryn Keek Nessen Meyer is living in Minne Boo I-loo taking care of her fifteen tax deductions. Seniwt Cfaon I Duane Arends- -I will my ever- famous Blackmail Page to Jack Terryberry because of the color of his hair Norman Baker--I will my ability to get under the bangboards to Tom Robbins.
