Q o o o ooo o ooooMrSg At the first of the year we had a hike. We decided at the very last minute to gc to the lakes. And, naturally, being good little children, we didn't even throw any one into the lakes and believe me, we passed up several good opportunities. The English class gave the Shakespearian play mMerchant of Venicen as a convocation program. Everyone will remember when Larry said, Look, here they come now and pointed to the east. At that mo ent, the west door opened and the travelers came up behind Larry's ,back. Even Shakespeare would have laughed at that. In January we had a party at the school house. The girls danced and the boys listened to that important fight while playing card games. Still trying to live up to our reputation as good sstudents, we went home early so we could wake up bright! In March we got our chance to put out the School paper, and we think it was the best one this year. --13

Besides in- creasing our mental capacity a year, there were such events as the Junior Class play, the operetta, the Junior-Senior Banquet and field trips to Lincoln and Beatrice. Speaking of the Junior-Senior Banquet, we had to work mighty hard to increase our funds to take care of the financial end of that deal. Besides selling pop and hot dogs at basketball and football games and track meets, we sold magazines all over town. But even though we had to work we were certainly pleased to see the Seniors enjoying their banquet immensely. We were happy to give them their banquet and we're going to miss them. In addition to all the other events, we had class parties, in- cluding our farewell party for Mrs. Knight. This lively party had all the finishings of a Christmas dinner, including hqme-made ice- cream, cookies, sandwiches, pop, and potato chips. dare say we didn't feel too well for a week afterwards. Perhaps the most looked-forward to event was getting our class rings. We ordered them in September and tried to waitpatiently until they arrived many months later. V ' - During the course of the year, our classmate, Norman Urwin left us. We were not disappointed too long over the loss of Mrs. Knight, for soon Miss Wittler, our new commercial teacher joined us as our sponsor. , We are now looking forward to being the dignified seniors. Just wait, we'll show you ---- you underclassmenl A --12--

During initiation week it wasn't anything to meet us Freshmen walking backwards. For one day we wore our clothes backwards, the next, clothes of the opposite sex and the last day we dressed asia story book or funny paper character. The Seniors had the priviledge of asking us to bow to them or carry their books. After school was in full progress we decided to plan a hike. Along with our sponsor, Mr. Kleager, we journeyed to the lakes. After playing games we had a weiner roast. The hike proved to be very interesting, especially when the boys jumped out from behind bushes to frighten the girls. , On February Sth, we decided to have a Valentine's Day partywhich was held in the gym. All the Freshmen say that their first year at L.n.S. proved to be very interesting and exciting and if next year is anything like it, they're sure to enjoy it.
