CLASS HISTORY On September 7, 1936, 22 little children trudged up the long hill to begin their formal education. Our first teacher was Miss Rocken- book, now Mrs. Reichart. Continuous spankings prepared us for our second year of schooling. After our second teacher, Miss Dunlap, who tried her best to tame us, she finally passedus on to the third grade. The highlight of our second grade wasa Valentine Party with the first and third grade. At the end of our second year we parted company to be divided between Miss Dunlap and Miss Doris Parsell for our third gear, In thezfourth year we were again under Doris farsell, Now Mrs. rvin Albert. With hard lessons and the guiding hand of Miss Parsons directed us blindly through the fifth grade. In the sixth grade our little group was again divided. Some remained with Mrs. Koop and the other struggled through more hygeine and geography only to be stumped by more the following year in the eighth grade. With Miss Bishop we had one of the happiest years of grade school. Hikes and parties were the order of the year. Also, the great event of that year, no minor detail you understand, was Grade School graduation. - On entering High School we gathered a few new students, D. Neu ann, D. Wendt,V. Betty Woehler Sponsor .............. Arlene Wittler We, the Juniors, have had an exciting year indeed. Besides in- creasing our mental capacity a year, there were such events as the Junior Class play, the operetta, the Junior-Senior Banquet and field trips to Lincoln and Beatrice. Speaking of the Junior-Senior Banquet, we had to work mighty hard to increase our funds to take care of the financial end of that deal. Besides selling pop and hot dogs at basketball and football games and track meets, we sold magazines all over town. But even though we had to work we were certainly pleased to see the Seniors enjoying their banquet immensely. We were happy to give them their banquet and we're going to miss them. In addition to all the other events, we had class parties, in- cluding our farewell party for Mrs. Knight. This lively party had all the finishings of a Christmas dinner, including hqme-made ice- cream, cookies, sandwiches, pop, and potato chips. dare say we didn't feel too well for a week afterwards. Perhaps the most looked-forward to event was getting our class rings. We ordered them in September and tried to waitpatiently until they arrived many months later. V ' - During the course of the year, our classmate, Norman Urwin left us. We were not disappointed too long over the loss of Mrs. Knight, for soon Miss Wittler, our new commercial teacher joined us as our sponsor. , We are now looking forward to being the dignified seniors. Just wait, we'll show you ---- you underclassmenl A --12--
