Mr. CHARLES G. HOBGOOD Forest Soils B.S., M.S.--Louisiana State University Mr. ERNEST J. RUSSELL Forest Protection B.A.--Louisiana Polytechnic Institute M.F.--Louisiana State University After graduating from Louisiana Tech where he was a charter member of Sigma Tau Delta and active in intercollegiate athletics, Mr. Russell had a variety of experience, including several phases of construction work, pulpwood production, soil and water conserva- tion, and teaching at the high school level. At this point he resumed his studies and after finishing at L.S.U., worked for a short while for the Forest Service in a C.C.C. Camp. Mr. Russel1's next service was with the Soil Conservation Service in Louisiana and then with the Army where he served most of his tour with the Corps of Engineers. FACLI LTY Mr. ODIE L. FITZGERALD Forest Utilization B.S. Louisiana Polytechnic Institute M.F. Duke University After his graduation from Duke University in 1949, Mr. Fitzgerald was employed as a wood technologist at TECO, in Washington, D.C. He worked in this position until 1950 and then moved to Shreveport, La. where he was made the District Forester for the Louisiana Soil Conservation Service. Eighteen months later, he came to Louisiana Tech to become associate professor of Forest Utilization. In this category Mr. Fitzgerald is an instructor in the fol- lowing subjects: Dendrology, Forest Products, Wood Technology, Seasoning and Preservation and Harvest- ing and Manufacturing. Mr. JOHN KUPRIONIS Silviculture Diploma Forester Academy of Agriculture and Forestry - Dotnuva, Lithuania M.F. Michigan State College Mr. Kuprionis worked with the Lithuanian Forest Service from 1929 to 1939 as junior forester, district forester, grand district forester, and finally as the head of the Forestry Dept. of Lithuania, Reforesta- tion Division. In 1939 he became an assistant forestry professor at the University of Vilnius, Lithu- ania. He served in this capacity until 1944 at which time he went to Germany to work for the German Forest Service of Austria. Afer leaving Austria, Mr. Kuprionis worked until 1946 as a forester in Bavaria. In July of 1946 he came to the United States and from 1948 Lmtil 1950, he worked as an assistant in the graduate forestry school of Michigan State Col- lege and there received his masters degree in forestry. From 1950 to 1952 Mr. Kuprionis worked in Dallas, Texas and helped to establish a 100 acre nursery for the growing of shade and ornamental trees. Since 1952 he has been an associate professor of forestry at Louisiana Tech, te aching: Foundations of Silviculture, Practice of Silviculture, and Seeding and Planting.
