DONALD E. SHIPP As a commuter school without a student center, it is difficult for us to develop activities that will involve very many students. The Shrcvcport-Bossicr City urban area is one of the largest in the nation without a public four-year college. Through the campus publications and Free Speech Alley, our students have the freedom and the opportunity to express themselves. 54 DEAN LSU-S We have the potential to become an excellent four-year college. We have the faculty and the students, and will soon have the facilities. The attention being given to the problem of pollution is good. We should start right here on our own campus. One of the biggest problems is to develop school spirit, a feeling of identity with LSU-Shreveport. This is very difficult on a two-year campus. Elizabeth Ann 51 Since this is the only op| ortunity. I'll have to do so, I would like to publicly praise Jim Bush, Larry Hilton and Diane Barksdale. A yearbook would he nothing without pictures and Larry and Jim spent many nights in the darkroom making prints. Diane is a very beautiful girl but I doubt seriously that she has ever been complimented because of her shoulders. Diane was the only BAGATELLE staff memlier (including the advisor and editor) with any experience working with yearbooks. and we leaned on her shoulders quite often. I also appreciate Bill McFarland’s help and advice with the color and bcautv section. His time is valuable, ami he donated many hours ami pictures to the BAGATELLE. This year we’ve tried to break away from the past editions of the BAGATELLE. We feel that as LSU-S is different than LSU-BR. our yearbook should not In just a smaller edition of the C umln . Our cover. Gator Mitchell's prose, the fold-outs and the sport section are a few new ideas. We had several problems at the beginning of the year w ith photography that never got completely solved (see faculty section). Regardless, I feel that we have an excellent ycarlwok. I’m very pleasi-d to have been a part of this year’s BAGATELLE, but quite relieved that it is over. 120 LSU SHREVEPORT 1971
