Bivins, III—Director The Board of Supervisors is the administrative body of Louisiana State University. Each of the 14 members is appointed by the Governor for 14 year terms. The Board is the University's representative in the Louisiana Legislature. LSU is in its hundredth year, and tho Board has sot up other campuses throughout the state: New Orleans. Eunice. Alexandria, and Shreveport. Tho Board is com- posed of LSU graduates, and it is their duty to formulate the policies of the University which are executed by the Administration. The responsibility of supervising the education of LSU's students is fulfilled by the Board and the Adnvnistration. Only by their guidance can LSU maintain its high standards and remain as one of the most outstanding universities in tho nation. 29

THE DEAN’S MESSAGE This is to express my personal greetings and regards to the students of LSU-Shreveport. As the newest campus in the LSU System, LSU-Shreveport has made an auspicious start toward developing into a great University Campus. The University Administration intends to promote the growth of LSU-Shreveport during the 1970's with all the resources at its command. In this book you will see pictures of a very fine faculty and staff and an outstanding student body. During our short history, we have enjoyed working with many very capable student leaders who have helped to establish a number of clubs and activities. These represent the beginnings of an LSU-Shreveport tradition. As we secure more facilities on the campus, more activities may bo developed. These will help to provide students with leadership training and non-academic experience necessary for a fully developed personality. At the time this yearbook is released, many of our students will bo making plans to move on to other colleges or to employment.
