AUDIGLOGY SPEECH AND A Speech Pathologist is a professional devoted to the study of human communication, its normal development, and its disorders . . . evaluates the speech and language of children and adults, determines whether communication problems exist, and decides the best way to treat these problems . . . is also interested in preventing speech, hear- ing and language disorders through public education, early identification of problems, and research on the causes and treatment of these problems. ' An Audiologist is a professional concerned with normal and defective hearing, prevention of hearing loss, identifi- cation of hearing loss in individuals, and rehabilitation of those who have hearing problems . . . uses tests and instru- ments, such as the audiometer to find out whether a person has a hearing loss and what kind of loss it is . . . works in a variety of ways to help the person make best use of his hear- ing, possibly through amplification, or through many other techniques . . . also performs research on the hearing proc- ess and hearing problems.
