sr 55572.-U 12 Wa. V02 fee T . ,,grm x . 4' Of great interest to the United States and to Viet Nam are the Paris Peace talks. Will progress be made now that there is a new administration in Washington? Will there be an agreement made that will be satisfactory to all sides? Dist. Atty. Jim Garrison's charges against Clay L. Shaw, that he conspired to murder President Kennedy, could result in the convictions of several important people or the ridicule of others. Organ transplants in 1968 included the trans- plantation of human hearts and other vital organs. Hopefully, improved surgical techniques and added knowledge will make these transplant operations more successful and widespread in 1969. Of interest to air travelers and airline compa- nies would be the formulation of a treaty between the U. S. and Cuba regarding airline hijackings. Marijuana could be legalized or legally banned. Among the social problems which lack solutions are alcoholism, drug addiction and sins against society. Perhaps new and useful methods will be found to deal with these social problems this year. The year 1968 is history. The days of 1969 are being entered into the history books. Here are some questions and predictions concerning the re- maining days of 1969 . . . The lunar voyage of Apollo 8 proved that man could orbit the moon and return safely to earth. ln 1969 man may land on the moon's surface and accomplish a feat which man has dreamed about for centuries, visiting and exploring our neighbors in space. In 1968, 500 Americans died each week in Viet Nam. lt is unknown whether or not these figures will rise or fall this year. A new president took office in January of this year. He faces a Democratic majority in both houses of Congress. Will he find it impossible to get his legislation approved?
