Sfraffon, Dean of Women af Purdue Univer- sify, was fhe feafured speaker af 'lhe convocafion sponsored by Morfar Board on Leadership Day. The annual appearance of fhe Brifish debafers-fhis year, V. Y. Parkinson and George J. Bean-was nof denied by fhe war. ln March fhe Universify was hosf for fhe fhirfy-fhird annual conference of fhe Mississippi Valley Associafion of Deans of Liberal Arfs Colleges. Marfha Graham and her dance group appeared af fhe Universify as fhe second feafure of 'rhe L. S. U. Arfisf group. Highlighf of 'rhe year for fhe mu- sically-minded public of fhe Universify and Bafon Rouge was fhe presenfafion of Smefana's romanfic folk opera, The Bar- fered Bride, which was given in four performances af fhe Uni- versify and once in New Orleans, as fhe elevenfh annual opera. The picasso exhibif in fhe Fine Arfs Deparfmenf followed an infernafional show of modern domesfic archifecfure and hous- ing. An exhibif of fhe sculpfure by Maillol, Lachaise, and Despiau, confemporary arfisfs, affracfed much affenfion. A large parf of fhe large Bauhaus collecfion of I9I9-28 was shown, affer if had been exhibifed in fhe Delgado museum in New Orleans. In fhe field of radio, fhe General Exfension Division resumed ifs series of broadcasfs, including vocafional guidance aids and French language plays. The broadcasfs were designed fo disfribufe agriculfural informafion wifhin fhe sfafe and fo publicize fhe sfafe's nafural resources. The Louisiana Leader, fhe Alumni News, and fhe News Of- fices helped in keeping fhe sfafe in fouch wifh fhe progress of fhe Universify.
