STUDENT council Members of the Student Council are campus bigwigs, ace poli- ticians from the various colleges. In spite of their biggest worry, Reporter Harris Jackson of The Daily Reveille, they have managed to do some good work occasionally. The Coun- cil talked the bus company into circling the campus, persuaded the University to build shelters at convenient points. They played important parts in the arranging of the Houston trip, which they all thoroughly enjoyed, revamped the Honor Court, put mail boxes at menls dormitories, opened the Library on Sunday nights, and gave the bottle-coke drinkers an empty box in the Field House. Other accomplishments are more laundry rooms, Sunday mail service, loud-speakers at football games, better seats for students at games, water coolers in Coates Lab, and the entertaining of visiting student councils and ofiicials. They financed the Oxford debate, Honor Court book stickers, the Y delegation to the Miami convention, and an engineer delegate to the Louisiana Engineering Society at New Orleans. Taking them at face value, they have probably done more for the campus than any previous body. President JOE SANDERS climaxed a fine admin- istration by refusing to nominate a successor.
